Received this car a while back. Have had two offers to purchase it by people passing bye. The car is fairly unique; A/C, tilt, power windows, power 4-way bucket seat. The original color is Teal Blue Mist Poly with a white top, and blue interior. I believe it will return to the original combination in the future. It has the factory engine, trans, and probably rear (2.93 peg leg). The car is very solid overall, a good base to start from. It will soon be put in storage and stay there for some time, the 70 needs to be completed before any real work is done on this one. A thank you is in order for Jim Ramsey , John G, and John Jr. for their help. I found some stale pretzels, and several empty[IMG] in the carwhere could that stuff come from? Others around here look and laugh, but I find it hard to keep a smile off my ugly face.

    Thanks,

    Patrick

Congrats Patrick, looks like a good car for a resto project. :TU: I suggest starting your search early for a 68 grille. :)

    Dave,
I thought it has the 68 GS grille on it. Look at the picture carefully and give me you opinion please.

Alan, that is icing on the cake...I might not change that...just paint the teal around it.

The car has a solid core support and fender wells. I think they may have been changed at some point, time will tell. It has mud in the rear quarters but it appears to be minimal (magnet). The doors have holes around the drains, so different doors will be needed. Some funky stuff was done to it. Someone re chromed the bumpers, but the front bumper was not straightened first. And while removing the bumper it must of been easier to cut the wires. I sure what I know is just the beginning. I hope my car will be as nice as both of yours. I had a chance to look them over at Salem.

Patrick, it looks like a 69 Skylark grille with a 68 chrome surround, to me anyway. The 68 grille does not have that solid horizontal bar going across the middle. The 69 chrome surround has a chromed bar that crosses right there on a 69 grille.

    Thanks Mike,
Ironically it is the rarest one I may like the least. But with a white top and superior body/paint it should keep a roof over its head.

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

I paid $225 for my NOS grille and that was a steal. Be patient, but keep an eye out and you will come across another. Welcome to the 68 club!!

    Question for Dave G

    Hey Dave
Being the '68 guru, can you help me with these wheels?
Are these an option for 68 cars with discs,I know they were for 67 but not sure for 68.
    thanks

Gary, yes I do believe they are in the picture of the wheel options I have at home for 68.

Patrick, what's the story with the last pic? That's a 68 true GS with the full length body side molding?? Hmmm... I'm pretty sure mine was a transplant from a donor 69 Sky Custom car, but some of us have been trying to find a documented 68 GS with that option on the build sheet, since it isn't listed as an option on the GS models.

    Gary,

Those wheels were available in '67 and '68, they were called "Rallye Wheels". You could not get the chrome rims in those years when you ordered disc brakes because of caliper clearence. You could also order that style of wheel without the disc brake option.

I do have a factory photo of a '69 GS with those wheels but they were never offered as an option in '69 :Do No:
