I don't know what that suzuki thing is but even if if was brand new right out of the Rice Krispies box you couldn't go wrong trading it for a Buick!:beers2:
I don't have any more pics right now, the motor is a 340, which I am soon to get a 4 barrel intake for, Poston does not have any headers until the first of the year, :af: . The Suzuki Katana was a 1995 motorcycle. I love the car, in fact, it is fixing to get a name ! :TU:. Originally this car was equipped with a V6. Almost converted it to a Chevy, But then I came to my senses thanks to a few guys on here....
Thats what everyone here has been saying, I heard on here that sanderson headers makes them as well, I have an email to them and am awaiting a response....
You might consider this,it's what i'm having done on my 340 manifolds(same as 300)the level 1 + jet hot coating. The stock manifolds allready flow fairly well to begin with. And when it's done, the car still looks totally stock:Brow: http://www.gesslerheadporting.com/members/gesslerheadporting/ghp.nsf/sub-menu/Services03
Today I painted the valve covers and put them on. ( they were not on the car when I got it.) I put in a battery and filled the radiator with water. I live in Phoenix and can get away with it for now... I had to see what the motor was like. I didnt do a compression test, I just thought I would try it and see. It took a little cranking to get some gas to the carb, but it started. I am pretty sure it needs a tune up, but it ran pretty good with no motor noises. I was expecting to hear some valve noise at the least, but it suprised me. Had strong exhaust coming out of the tailpipe, a little sputtering, but not bad. The alternator is not charging, I believe it is because they have one with a internal regulator on there and it still is wired to a external regulator. I have to find out some specifics on the motor, point gap, firing order, etc. before I dig any further into it. I have been a grease monkey my whole life, and this is fun to me.
It was your basic rice rocket motorcycle loosely based on the racing version. I believe they were also known as "cafe" racers. If I had known that some shlepp was interested in such a trade, I would've never given away my old Yamaha XS11 last summer.ou: I'd say you got the better of the deal. :TU: :beer
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=280287788869&ssPageName=STRK:MEDW:IT&ih=018 Here's my old 67 Special that was just on ebay. I loved it, only sold it because at the time I fell in love with a 56. Nice driving, handling car. If you have any other questions about it PM me or ask here. I see yours still has the stainless side moldings, they really look good on the car. Good luck with it, if you ever want to sell it check with me!:3gears:
If it is a 67 Special with a 340, it should already be a 4 barrel unless it is possibly not the original engine. The 300's only had 2 barrels. The 340 is red the 300 is blueish green.
No,the 300-2 was the "wildcat 310",the 300-4 was the "wildcat 355".They did make a 300-4.In '64 the 355 was an aluminum head/intake no less.:laugh:And the 340 came 2 or 4 venturi also.
In 1967 the "Wilcat 310" name was dropped (no longer had the disk on the air cleaner stating Wildcat 310) and it was just the 300-2, which in a Special even the 300 (A3) was an option as the 225-2 V6 was the standard fair. The 340 that was available as an option in the Special line was the 340-4 (A7) High performance. So three engines could be had in the Special line, a 225-2, a 300 -2, or a 340-4. The 340-2 engine was standard in the 4 door Slylarks and Sportwagons. If his car has a 340-2, then it is probably a transplant from either a Skylark 4 door or a Sportwagon. Of course either the Skylark four door or Sportwagon could be upgraded to the A7 high performance 340.
Be aware that Poston's headers make take some serious work to install. The last set I got from them was supposed to bolt right in and what a nightmare. I actually think they were designed for the 300 which, in theory, should bolt right up to the 340. However the 340 is a taller engine throwing off the header placement around things like the brake line junction (the proper name escapes me at this moment) and probably the steering shaft. Took quite a bit of jimmying to get them to work. The exhaust manifolds on the 340's are actually quite effecient in their own right and very little is gained by headers.
Hey good luck with your car. I also have a 67 special deluxe 2 door hardtop, I just traded a quad for mine. Its a nice car, but parts suck to find. If you would like, you can contact me any time at jason.weissinger@ yahoo.com. I have duplicates of some chrome, a dash, rims. Once again good luck.
