I think maybe you don't know what that thing on the hood is. It's not "supposed" to be out there. It's not some aftermarket weird air scoop, that's a Buick air cleaner

Don't know about the other pics but the first one looks like the UFO I saw when I was nine years old, I'll never forget it!

Could be a GS hood, James

What makes you think he's really cut a hole in it? I've laid stuff on top of my hood many times. Only two holes, though

Scott's trickier than you might think. Punish him after he fails, not when you guess he's failing :TU:

Maybe he didn't. It just doesn't look right with the two big holes in the hood.
So I'm not feeling it yet.

    Amazing

I think this looks great! I thought the idea of chroming a Star Wars air cleaner was brilliant, adding some evil glow is inspired.

It's tough to photograph LED's the color is so pure the camera doesn't pick it up well.

I'd love to see some daylight photo's of the air cleaner and a bit of a description on how you're planning to run it. Were you kidding about having it stick through the hood?

On a side note does anyone know what this air cleaner was called before Star Wars was released?

I only set in on the GS hood, as a place to take the picture!

I did not cut up any GS hood, so you can all relax! :TU:

The LEDs are for effect, only, and they do what I expected them to do, they get NOTICED! :bglasses:

I just wanted to see how it would look, so far! I haven't even started on the car yet. I've started Working on the car, but I haven't started the modifications, yet! :TU:

This Air Cleaner is going to be on top of a Dual Quad setup on my 455, and it will be RAISED up, out of the Fiberglass Cowl hood, with no GS scoops! The hole in the Hood will be the "cutout" shape of the Star Wars Air Cleaner! :Smarty: :bglasses:

About "Batman", He and I have a few things in common:

He built a cool car with a lot of gadgets, I'm building a cool car with a lot of gadgets. :TU:
He's most active at night. Well... :Brow:
He dresses in spandex or latex...FORGET THAT!

With a Black paintjob, and this car lit up in Red LEDs at night, it might look like a "modern Batmobile", anyway. :Do No: :Brow:

Well don't be scaring people like that, Dude. You asked how it looked like you had already installed it so. I was looking at it from that aspect.

I wanted to reach through the computer and slap you. :)

But now, yea it will look cool once installed right on another hood.

This gonna be a street driven car?

Cops around here have cracked down hard on all those funky neon and led lights on cars. About the same time they cracked down on all them scooters.
Blue lights are illegal period. Red lights are illegal on the top or front half of any car. Only the back half can have red. And those little scooters can only be driven by someone 14, you must wear a helmet, have insurance & pass DOT min inspection. Which none of them can.
You never seen the price of neon and scooters drop so fast at AutoZone. [Around here Autozone sell those scooters. Did.]

I know, the infamous "Star Wars Air Cleaner"... i'm not feelin this mod. to each their own. like i said though, on finish product i may change my mind, i just can't picture the final product as a very good "buick" thing, of course i've seen crazier, but they pulled it off well. this could.. we'll see.

     :beer

It's taking some time, but be patient, and then you can tell me! :bglasses:

Is there any other kind? :puzzled: :TU:

Only on Friday and Saturday NIGHTS! Local car shows and cruises. Not as a Daily Driver. No fuel economy to be expected with this 455! :Smarty:

I already know the legal colors, that Red and Blue are used for Emergency vehicles, but I'll only be using them on Toggle switches, when the car is PARKED, but not while driving (except to mess with an occasional Ricer. :Brow: )! :TU:

Now that I think about it, how about a Red LED in one scoop, and a Blue LED in the other one? :eek2: A GS Cop Car? :eek2: Just kidding!

    Cody,
You're closer than quite a few others here, so I may have to plan a trip on a weekend, and you can see it in person! :TU:

You are going to be in awe!

I think you'll approve, though! :bglasses:

You should have remote activated exhaust dumps and then open them when you turn on the lights. All the ricers will go around talking about how you "turned on your turbo" and it was so hot it made your engine light up red.

Hey, rice air cleaner! I mean, nice air cleaner! :Dou:

Well, for $1,000, a Ricer owner could have most of these things:

    LED shifter knob
    Windshield Wiper LEDs
    Underhood LEDs
    Underbody LEDs
    Custom Stereo system
    Custom Wheels and Tires
    Big Aluminum Rear Wing Spoiler
    Ground Effects

    OR

For $1,000, a Ricer owner could have:

A Buick Star Wars Air Cleaner!

    No LEDs!
    No Base!
    No Emblems!
    No Hold Down knob!
    Not even an AIR FILTER!

Most "Ricer" owners are too YOUNG to even know what a Star Wars Air Cleaner is, anyway! So what does that say about most BUICK owners? :Brow:

NOW, I did NOT say that Buick owners are "OLD"! :TU: I just meant that we spend more time RESEARCHING our cars and parts than these Young guys do, with theirs! :Smarty: (Whew! What a Save!)

So, from the choices above, they can either have a LIST of parts, or they can have just ONE part! I think it's Smarter for them to get the LIST of parts, and leave the ONE part for US! :bglasses: :TU:

Sounds like a fun and great idea to me Scott! Is that star wars air cleaner going on your 4 door car listed in your sig or a different one?-Just curious. I would love to see that car "in the flesh" especially when it is done! Thanks :bglasses: :TU:
