Doc, when you're ready to start setting that thing in the truck you give me a shout, I'm not that far away. We can all use an extra set of hands now and then. Don't know what tranny you're going to use but I do have a good sp converter here.

oh, yeah,,, it is a 85 f150,swb, ''farm truck''.... brown&creme,,,, with old school turbo fan wheels,,, firestone 5000 air bag overload springs......
bought it straight out of a junk yard....for $600...... was supposed to have a locked up engine,,, got it home and it didnt have a locked up engine ,,,, the starter solenoid was wired up backwards.....rebuilt the 302 to ho specs.... have used it for about 5 years....
i use the truck all the time hauling wood, crushed stone, car parts, garden soil conditioners.... ect....with a 401/th400 switch pitch in it it will have plenty of pulling power....and get better gas mileage too.....

Nice. My father once bought an '84 F150 w/ 351W that was supposed to have a blown engine. It turned out to just be a bad fuel pump. He fixed that and drove it for a few years without any problems.

Once you complete your Ford, will we be seeing a race between you and John in the Buchev?

    Eager to see the swap!!

Why is it that when you talk about putting a nailhead into something that isn't even a Buick, people say Cool!

But when you talk about putting the same engine into a 65 Skylark they come out of the woodwork to tell you that your crazy. The parts are too hard to come by and cost too much.

Plain old back yard hot rod engineering is what it takes.
Chevy truck, ford truck or Skylark.

Are you going to build motor mounts, adapt something or buy a set of the universal nailhead mounts that places like Speedway motors have and cut and weld those to fit?

Ford folks must be a bit mechanically challenged. Doc got his pickup with a locked up engine that turned out to be a starter solenoid issue. Another Ford with a "blown engine" needed a fuel pump. I once bought a "351" '70 Mustang Mach 1 that had "a bad crankshaft" and would not run. It took me about 15 minutes to discover that the engine was a 302 that had been wired for a 351 firing order. I put the plug wires in the correct order; fired it up, then gave it to my father-in-law, who drove it for years.

Well, I plan to do this thing over time with a lot of measuring and thinking.... the biggest challenge will be the motor mounts...and the trans mounts.... I think the buick exhaust manifolds will work ... but the air conditioning compressor will be something to deal with.... the rad hook ups are on the same side and the rad is a HD unit from a ford ambulance.... the fan is from a lincoln and is electric...may have to come up with a rear sump pan/oil pickup....
first I have to build up a engine and transmission....

I hate to say this, but Doc would probably win. His Ford is hundeds of pounds lighter then my Buchev. I prefer to think that it is becuse GM builds better, stronger vehicles then Ford...
