Hey guys I'm 15 and I just got my first car, a 1969 Buick Special Deluxe w/ a 250ci straight six and a 3 in the tree (3 speed tranny) with 17,300 ORIGINAL MILES! I might be in love lol  . It's in incredible condition. The body is fantastic. It is all original steel with a little bit of bondo on my rear left quarter but not really enough to matter. There is a little bit of rust but nothing sanding can't fix. The interior is just about perfect. However, the headliner has a few parts that are coming apart at the seams. (would I just take it out and sow it up?) and same with a few other parts of the interior (the seats have a few seam tears too so would I sow that up too?). It's funny because mine came stock without a radio, power brakes, and power steering which are pretty much all standard today. There is a leak or two in the front and back glass that I need to fix on a vacation from school. The story getting it was funny too. My dad's friend found the car on craigslist about 20 minutes away from where I live (WHAT LUCK!). We went over and checked it out, went for a ride, my dad's friend came (the one who found it) and we took another ride in it (with the friend) and then we started the negotiations. My dad started at $1700 and then to $2000. The owner went inside and we were about to leave and then I offered to put $200 of my own money in (I'm 15 and don't have a whole lot) and then he refused that too. So then I finally got to his asking price of $2500 by doubling my input and getting my dad to go up $100. We drove home in it that night. I love this car to death and don't plan on selling ever haha!

That's great! My first car was also a 1969 Special Deluxe, although mine had a 350 and the automatic. I got it when I turned 16-1/2 from my grandmother.

I still have it - I just turned 40 last month...

I love that car! Minimalism at it's best. My first car was a 69 California GS, but in far worse shape. Ah the memories. Take good car of her. :TU:

Congrats on your "new" Buick! Looks like a nice ride. If you are keeping the 6cyl it should be good on gas. My first car was a 1977 Pontiac Lemans with the 231 6cyl. A big heavy car like yours but good on gas as I used it to commute to college with.

The headliner is relatively inexpensive to buy a new one rather than try to sew the one in there. The seats are a different matter. The Special Deluxe has it's own interior patterns on the seats and door panels, and are not reproduced by anyone yet. Give her a good cleaning inside and see where you stand. Don't use armor-all, it'll cause shrinkage over time. As it's a white seat, you might get lucky and find another in good shape through a member here, otherwise sewing might be the only answer.

Keep all the parts you remove from the car bagged, boxed, and labeled. Once they're tossed, it's a major hassle finding them again down the road.

    What a great find.

That interior is the same as the GS California and it isn't being reproduced. If you're going to do a "custom" interior, save all the original pieces! You may be able to sell them and get enough money to pay for lots of other stuff!

    Nice car by the way!!
