anyone have any ideas on taking off as much as wieght as possible on the riviera???? iv already took out the AC for a start.
Not without sacrificing comfort. You can remove: spare tire jack rear seat and pass seat door panels replace 100 lb drivers seat with flimsy bucket replace door glass with lexan have fiberglass hood, doors and fenders made swiss cheese the bumper supports replace power window motors with crank-up regulators inner fenders inner door beams swap to ultralight mag wheels ...but then you defeat the whole purpose of owning a Riviera. Frankly, I think it is hysterical that I get to drive a35 year old 13 second tugboat with AC, PW, PS, PB, PSeat, PAntenna, Remote Trunk Release, Tilt wheel, and a bitchin' sound system...
Everything Jeff said plus: remove inner and outer heater boxes remove power steering pump and hoses remove power seat motor and replace with manual tracks remove wipers, wiper motor and wiper transmission good luck I hope tis helps out:TU:
One more thing, Remove the Riviera emblem too, because its not one anymore. The "Stylized R" stands for comfort!
What exactly are you interested in doing with your Riv? Do you want to strip it and make it a race car? Or are you interested in driving it around? This will weigh heavily on what you will want to pull out to save weight. Like Yardley said, it's a blast driving a luxo G-machine with a killer stereo while running 13-14 second 1/4 times.
no i dont wanna turn it into a race car i just wanna lighten her up a lil bit. i have an 86 crown victoria that weighs around 3800 lbs? kinda dream to get it down around 3900 or 4000 lbs or is that even possible? like i said iv got no AC n im going after an aluminum intake for now i have a question? how much do those powered window motors weight????? bc ill gut the back 2 if i have to
I think 3900 would be next to impossible. Depending on how much you cash you have, I'd start swapping engine parts . New intake, heads and headers would be first you could save about 150 lbs right there. From there, yank everything you can live without. you could even take out the sound dampening inbetween the floors and the carpet, and in the doors. Power window motors can't weigh that much, I wouldn't think it was worth it.
my computer is a POS so i dont know if the message was sent, but im up here in grafton, i know some1 who lives in beckley
