Hi guys. As some of you may know that I've been fighting Multiple Myeloma since January 2000. Been though two stem cell transplants and will be on chemo till the cows come home. Recently I was able to score a 70 350 Special that someone had started parting out. The body was so nice I thought to myself, this car needs to be put back together instead of getting parted out. The bumpers, radiator support, window regulators and engine are gone, along with some dash pieces. Car has a nice dual exhaust, 12 bolt rear, power disc brakes and very nice glass. I'm going to do some small lower fender patches, a very small front cowl patch, and two small quarter panel patches. Floors are solid. I can make all the patches, but would like to find a rough radiator support that is repairable, that way I can fix it and be able to get the fenders all bolted up after their done. The reason I say rough on the radiator support, is because with my disability it sure doesn't go very far. I have by far, way more time than money, and need to keeps things at a bare minimum. Barring a miracle, this will be the last car that my friends and I will bring back from the dead, so I want to do it right, but as you can see, I'm limited. I'm NOT asking for a hand out, just a hand up. If any of you know someone who has some of these parts that they sell for cheap, please let me know. Again, they need not be prefect, just repairable. The engine will be the last thing to be done, so I'm not worried about one for now.

    Many Thanks

HI,hope and pray the best for you.I have a good radiator support, you can use it as is,but it does need some work on the top where the battery is,all you have to do is clean out a small amount of rust and weld a washer where the bolt goes to the chassis, the one in there now is missing a very small amount of metal. How,s $150.00 plus actual shipping sound to you?I do have a front bumper you can use it as is,but it has to be straighten out some on the left side. This will go for $75.00,with the brackets $100.00 plus actual shipping. If you are interested,I will send you pictures of both. The support is real fine, the bumper is driver quality. I have got two sets of manual window regulators. One is complete (with brackets, etc.) and the other set is just the regulators. I can send you pictures of them if you will just PM me your email address. The biggest cost for you on these will probably be the shipping. I may also have a set of tan knobbed window crank handles (i don't know what color your interior is) that I may be able to send these with the regulators.

Something you may want to consider as long as your budget is limited, is maybe going with a 71-2 front end, as those parts are easier to find and much less valuable. 70 bumpers, grilles, h/l bezels and hood moldings are pretty expensive.

Will I have to change my hood to go with a 71-72 front end?

No, the hoods are the same. The only difference is the 70 didn't utilize a pop up spring which doesn't matter.
I've got several useable 72 h/l bezels and probably a useable 72 front hood molding that would be really affordable. I think I also have a 71 or 72 front bumper core laying here, along with good used park lamp assemblies.

That's great! I kind of prefer the look of the 71'-72' over the 70'. So the trim piece that is on my hood will need to be changed out? Sorry if I ask too much.

Well I got the window regulators squared away. Hope to get the radiator support soon. I'm thinking about BrunoD's, but I'm thinking that the shipping cost would be more than the part. I'm sure it is every bit as good as he says, but I'm fighting a little bitty budget, and need to stretch it as far as I can.....

Here's the car, as you can see it's missing a few things![IMG][/IMG]

    Here's the interior....

I was able to score a 69' Chevelle steering column for $20, so that's also taken care of.

    Good day everyone.
As you remember back in November I put a call for help here requesting help with parts for my ’70 Buick Skylark parts car that I am looking to restore. As you know this will probably be my last car project due to my cancer that just seems to keep fighting back. I had a couple great offers for parts from the east coast and one in Wyoming but I hit the gold mine in Southern California with Samuel and Hector. I had first gotten a set of window regulators for the car from Samuel and he mentioned he could really help me out if I could find a way to come out to Southern California. At the time I was undergoing full double dose Chemo and Radiation treatments for my cancer. So I knew I’d have to wait a while longer till after the Radiation treatments ended to recover some of my strength. After numerous conversations with Samuel I learned what my reward for showing up would be. The generous donation of parts included the following list.

    • A Repairable Radiator Support.
    • 71' Front and Rear Bumpers.
    • A 71' Front Grill and headlight doors.
    • Instrument Cluster with a Speedometer with speed warning(Sweet).
    • Front and rear Seats with Seatbelts.
    • Heater Box and wiring harness.
    • Buick Service Manual (1949-1972).
I just couldn’t resist the offer these kind souls had presented me (Who could?) and began making arrangements with my kids to drive me out with their truck. Upon arriving at Hectors, Samuel greated my kids and I and proceeded to show me my parts. He explained that the front seat was donated from a fellow member just the night before! We ended up having to rummage a bit for the correct heater box, but everything else was prepared for me and ready to load into the truck for the ride home. Hector and Samuel were very down to Earth and extremely knowledgeable pleasant guys to be around. I was able to see Hector’s insanely HUGE inventory of GM A-Body parts. I cannot express in words the appreciation that I feel for these guys. I can’t thank them enough for going out of their way to help me in the most tremendous way that they have. Should any of the club members find themselves in the Southern California area, be sure to give Hector or Samuel a call and swing by Hector’s busy place(It was sure busy while I was here). If it wasn’t for this generous donation my last project car would most likely would have never got the chance to get finished, but now it stands a great chance to do so. Stay tuned as I will be posting photo’s as the project gets underway.
Hector can be reached at 626-488-5472, and you know Samuel as sobair1. I can't thank you two enough!!!:TU::beer

    Hello David,
Hector and I are glad that we were able to help (Hector really came through big time with all the parts).

I just wish that we could have helped you out with a Buick 350 block or a non operational Buick 350 motor core, or something to mount up to your BOP turbo 350 trans. Please don't give up, maybe another one of our other Buick Brothers here on the board will step up and help you out with something. There are more of us here on the board, but I think everybody is focused on their own chaotic schedule.

It was a pleasure meeting you and your family, all great people. Please keep us posted when you start to post those pictures of your rehabilitation  on the car.

David, I really hope that your health turns around for the better soon, so that you and your son can see this project to completion. I am very glad that you were able to make the trip.
Please hang in there and keep in touch. Samuel :beer

I'm not giving up just yet Samuel. The Chevy motor would only be temporary anyhow as it will be going in the 77' once I find a Buick Small Block. I have thought about going with a 3800 with a T-5. That's quite a bit of work to get it fitted and running, but I think the gas mileage would be great. My in laws do have a 3800 FWD in a low mile wreak. I'm still trying to see what he wants for the engine and computer with the wiring. It would be much, much, easier with a SBB. I will be using a T-5 for the tranny if I can come up with a bellhousing. I'm also checking to see if the pedal box off of a Chevy Corvair is the same as a A-body pedal box. If it is, then I'll have a source for my pedals for a standard tranny. I still need to track down a engine bay/front wiring harness for the car, so we still have some time before I even think about going with a oddball engine.

It did have power windows with no A/C, go figure! I now have those rubber boots to plug the holes and give me a place to route the speaker wires!
