Mic, after you've posted here 10 times, you'll be able to post pictures. That will be the biggest help.

The "Expressly Built For" tag came with every new Riviera sold in 63, 64, and 65. You'd either send it back to Buick or take it to a jeweler and have it engraved with your name. They're still available as repops.

What have you bought for your 425 that won't fit? The 425 Buick is different from the Olds and other 425 motors.

You can ID your engine by looking at the engine from the front. Refer to the link for where to find the numbers. If your car has the original engine, it will be coded KW. k = 1964, w = 425 cid. The VIN number stamped onto the surface will match the cars VIN. I think a VIN for a 64 Riv should start with 7K..... 7 for the Riv body, and K again for 1964.

Most Rivieras were bought by "high end" customers so they're usually very well equipped. The rare options to look for on your 64 would be the Super Wildcat engine w/ two four barrel carburetors, power vent windows, cruise control, rear seat armrest ( it folds up and down,) and cast aluminum wheel covers with a knock off spinner. Most cars came with power windows, power seat, wire wheel covers, and a/c if purchased in a warm climate state. There were two interiors. The upgraded Custom Interior had wood grain console, and door panels, and there was a door handle that could be operated from the back seat. Vinyl and fabric were the only two choices for seat coverings, 63' was the only year for leather for a while. 1964 was the first year for the ST400 (Turbo Hydro 400) and it was different from the 65 -66 transmissions. You can hold the trans in second gear by shifting to drive and back to low once it shifts.

On the Riviera owners website http://www.rivowners.org/features/colortrim/options.html you can find a list of all the options and their codes for a 1964. This should help you determine how well your car was equipped. The Buick rally wheels were not available on a Riv in 1964; they debuted on the 64 Wildcat and were available on the 65 Riv.

Hope this helps, there's also a Riviera Owners forum on the Antique Automobile Club of America website. www.aaca.com Keep those cards and letters coming and keep us filled in.

I have a '64 Riviera with all but 6 of the available options
    Dual Note Horn
    Automatic Headlight Dimmer
    Dual Quads (465 Super Wildcat)
    Vacuum Trunk Release
    Center Armrest
    Cruise Control
and maybe the woodwheel which I don't think was an option then
It does have the AM-FM radio, fader, power windows, power vent, AC, Deluxe Interior, Nameplate, rear window defroster, positraction, tilt column, cornering lamps, and the spinner wheel covers.
I'm not sure what you mean by a 425 not fitting, if its really a 425 it should fit since they didn't put the 425 in anything but the centersump platforms and if you have a rear sump pan people will gladdly trade you.
