I have a 84 carburetor equippted FWD Century. The car has 200k mile on the fuel pump (its in the tank). I could pull fuel out of the tank from the front of the car and thinking of just adding electric fuel pump under the hood. Does anyone know the fuel pressure on a carburetor V6 for 84? Has anyone ever done this or is it a bad idea? I don't want to drop the fuel cell if I don't need to, Thanks AL.

For a carb, I would think 5lbs. would be good.

    If it's a TBI unit, 10-13lbs.

Electric fuel pumps make better 'pushers' than 'suckers'. Finding a pump that will suck the fuel out, especially from that distance - may prove more expensive than just changing the current one.

In tank pumps keep cooler and quiter too.
