Was tunning up the GS this morning and took her out for a roll. Cruised around town for a bit and was on my way home. Up ahead about 2 cars was a yellow cavalier. You probally guessed it can and his stock rims painted black. I checked my gas gauge and figured i could make the detour. I followed him towards Dixie Hwy and both the cars infront of me made their turns. As we reach the intersection on dixie i roll up right behind him. I had tried to get infront but some bia in a mitsu SUV was sitting in my blind spot and wouldnt move. So im sitting their behind Mr.Bad in his chick car. I give him two nice big revs (like he didnt know i was already there), and gave him a big o grin underneath my aviators. Light turns green we his front end dips up a dit trying to squak them. I bring the hammer down and drop the clutch. That 350 pulled right up to my redline as my tires caught and that beast flings forward damn near rearending him. I proceed to stay right up on him baking off it every now and then. Finally the right lane opens up for me and i pull around and start walking away. The light coming up (right infront of Waterford Plaza) turns yellow. and i get even more excited, now i can really flex some muscle for him. I put my arm out the window and motion for him to slow down. The light turns red and im already slowed way down but as its coming up. VOOOOM. That idiot blows right by me and i watch him run the red light. It was red for at least 3-5 seconds. Even though that is a really dead intersection i cant beleive that he didnt hit somebody. I cant beleive some people are that stupid. But he sure as hell wasnt stop next to me at that light. I dont know wether or not to be wowed that he was scared or wowed that he is that stupid.

I am starting to feel like I am getting old when I realize I have been legally driving for over 25 years now. In that time I have lost my license several times for speeding, so some people would say I am a bad driver. But in that time I have never run a red light and I have never been in an accident of my fault. The 2 accidents I have been in were: 1) a lady ran a red light and plowed into the side of my 2 month old ford ranger totalling it. 2) A guy in the right lane with his right turn signals on decides at the last second that he needed to make a left turn and cuts across 2 lanes of traffic right in front of me on an ice covered street in the middle of a snowstorm. I hit that maverick with a 69 Electra and knocked him across the intersection and into somebody's front yard, I was doing about 27mph when he decided he should to turn without looking to see if anybody was around. I have street raced so many times I can't remember, but never on a crowded street, never on less than a 6 lane wide highway, and never over 70mph. Doing 120 on a 2 lane side street past kids playing by the curb is the stupidest thing in the world and if I see someone do that past my 3 year old I will hunt them down! I guess what I am trying to get to is, I am not offended that you raced that guy on the street and I am proud to hear that you didn't also run the light in the interest of racing. If there had been witnesses I would rather they notice the Buick guy obeyed the traffic light and the ricer looking car did what they do.

just so ya know i would never race on a street with kids or that was two lanes. Dixie is a 5 lane road (2lanes 1 left 2 lanes) and the stretch we were is a buisness district. I had a friend that would tear through is sub (in his civic) and i thought that was the most retarded thing ever.

Easy, did you cruise around the funeral for Spc. Andrew Waits yesterday? I was there with the Patriot Guard Riders and saw a yellow "tuner" a couple of times. I wonder if it was the one you're talking about?

were you all waiting in the left hand turn lane for along while? I drove past a funeral procession that was waiting in the left hand turn lane.

Some of us left the parking lot a little early to get a good spot on the street. The family asked for 60 bikes to be in the funeral procession, the rest were parked on the sidewalk and both sides of the road.

We don't go to the burial unless the family asks, this time they asked for those 60 bikes to go with them. I just thank God we didn't have to deal with the protestors this time.

I am against the war now, as I was in the beginning. I was called un-American, anti-America, and numerous other things. My favorite was always, "if you don't like it, then go to Iraq!" Made no sense to me, I was AGAINST the war, all the ones calling for it needed to go over there! Anyway, my point is, I am a veteran and the lowest form of disrespect is to protest at a funeral. I have zero respect for these people and wish they would understand that funerals are for the survivors, not the deceased. What good are they doing? I applaud you for representing the soldiers and for bringing a little peace to the families. As far as my beliefs, I will make sure that they are expressed at appropriate times and locations. I will always state the fact that we were lied to and that this war was totally uneccesary as North Korea, Iran, and China are far more of a threat than the dictator put into power by our very own CIA would have ever been. I left the service after seeing weapons being sent over there in the 80's by then president Reagan and Bush Sr. As far as I'm concerned, they all need to be charged with "giving aid and comfort to the enemy". :blast:

I respect your opinion, you have every right to disagree with the war. But to say we were lied to I think buys into the rhetoric from the left that is trying to ruin this President in any way they can. Regardless of your view, you are certainly entitled to that view.

I do respect the fact that you are a veteran as well, and I thank you for your service to our country!

My rhetoric comes from the mere fact that all kinds of info is available to disprove claims of WMD's, while there is zero evidence to support the claims of the Bush administration. As a veteran, I am amazed at the fact that most of the supporters of this fiasco are able-bodied young people who hide behind "thanks for your service". Why don't they join up and get over there if they believe in Bush so much? By the way, I am a disabled veteran who receives zero compensation from the V.A. So much for that we take care of veterans B.S. As far me, I will vote for anyone but republicans and democrats in the next elections. There are other parties out there and it's time we made a stand against corrupt goverment officials. If you make a statement, proclaim it to be the truth, then cannot show any evidence to prove your claim while evidence to the contrary is proved, then you my friend, have lied! We impeach liars, or so I was told 6 years ago.

Alan, you said it all, hahahaha.
I had a friend named John, who had a quick '72 GS350 painted maroon/burgundy. The local joke was that John would race a guy on a 10-speed if he gave him "the look." Thanks for the reminder.

P.S. "Moparman" we are on a first name basis here. Dan

i dont take any offense, just remember to see if from my point. I work at the car wash and stand by the road watching ricer after ricer drive by reving at each other and what not. i've seen "homeboy" in the mellow yellow machine do holeshot after holeshot down that stretch of dixie. I wasnt posting for the meer fact of racing him but mainly for the fact he proved to me that i had underestimated his stupidity when he ran the red light.

You know, there is a lot of mis-information out there and it's hard to tell what's true and what's not. My feeling is that if our administration told us something was there based on information that the CIA gave them (and don't forget - it was Clinton's George Tenet who told them) AND other countries believed it too, that is not a lie. It's a mistake that cost the lives of many of our soldiers and I'll bet Bush thinks about it every single day and mourns. We know they were there at one point. They're either buried in the sand or they're in Syria. My best guess is Syria.

As far as the support goes, why aren't you getting any from the VA? If you're disabled that should be an automatic thing.

As far as lip service goes, I agree, but there are many young people signing up now that I'd never have thought would in our area. The 9/11 attack apparently pissed off the young people too and there are a lot of them signing up. If I felt about our military when I was younger the way I do know I may have signed up. I have nothing but admiration for everyone who serves. But at 43 with health issues I wouldn't make it through basic. So I show my respect and honor for people like you by thanking every soldier I run across if possible, I belong to the Patriot Guard Riders and I'm trying to bring my kids up with respect and loyalty to our country. And I vote. I learn about the issues and I vote. Every election, local, state and federal.

So politics aside, my hat is off to you my friend, with honor and respect for your service to our country.

Now if I could just get my hands on another '64 Skylark 2dr...
