Attached is a picture of the old hangers of the mufflers off my '72 GS 350, removed many years ago.
Does anyone know what product/material that connects the hardware pieces?
Looks somewhat like product that drive belts or constructed from, that connect a tractor pulley to the pulley on a threshing machine (old school on the farm). Or somewhat like the material that makes up a big truck mudflap.
Any idea, otherwise, to a replacement product that I could use to replace the old if I had to repair the hangers on my GS if they should ever fail?

It's called masticated rubber. A rubber product with reinforcing cord embedded in it.

Steele Rubber used to sell it in small mats that you would need to cut.

Don't know if they still sell it.

I just bought an exhaust from Gardner and it came with factory correct brackets and hardware. I wonder if they would sell you just the hardware and hangers.
