I am needing to remove the moulding that runs under the rear window for my vinyl top. I am getting ready to paint the deck lid area today. It is the lower one, that seperates the top from the paint. I looked in the Fischer body manual, I found it to be a type "G" moulding clip. It didn't say how to remove the moulding from it. The moulding snaps on to plastic clips that are riveted to the body. I really don't want to tape around it! Anyone know the proper way to remove it without damaging it? Thanks, Brian

Any guesses? I tried to pop it up but I think it will damage it.

if its the piece im thinking of, i did it to my car the other day. the corner peice of the molding wraps from the quarter pannel over the deck lid area was removed already. all i did after that was push down on the deck lid piece and slid it out without even trying to pop the molding clips.

slid back in just as easy.

The corner pieces have 1 or 2 studs that you need to remove the nuts from, inside the trunk. Then the moulding will just snap off. Be gentle with it, and you'll be fine.

I wonder what happens if it isn't handled gently, maybe it breaks off...................
I have one corner piece off already so I will take the other off and give it a try. I was able to take the piece on the sail panel off without a problem. Thanks for the replies,

After removing the driver side corner piece it came right off. No damage to any of the moulding. Thanks!
