I may have asked this question already, but don't remember getting any feedback. I am transplanting a 455 into my 69 GS350.
There are two options as to the location of the motor mounts. Do I place the mounts closer to the front of the motor or to the rear of the motor?
    Thanks in advance!

Closer to the rear. The front mounts are for big cars.

    Mount location

So this would mean placing the mounts in the position to the rear of the motor whereby bringing the motor closer to the grille, right?
If that is what you mean,
    Thanks alot!!

    handling tip:
the further back your engine is the better your weight bias (front to rear ratio) is.

therefore, if you have the room between the block and the firewall you should put the engine mounts in the front holes as this will move the engine towards the back of the car.

this can't be done with chebbies because they have the distributor on the back of the block. buick put the distributor on the front (where it belongs :Brow: ) :Smarty: .

this may require some fabbing on your part to make all of the drivetrain parts fit properly ... but that shouldn't scare somebody who is putting a 455 into a car that had a 350. :TU:

The handling tip is good advice, but remember, things still twist and move when the engine is running. If you plan to run slicks, they usually cause some real twisting of the body which can cause the engine to start hitting the walls of the tunnel (if it's that far back), or if the bellhousing is further down the tunnel, it might start rubbing also as the tunnel starts to become smaller. Another point to consider is mounting point of the shifter, if you have column shift, then you have nothing to worry about, if it's a four or three on the floor, then you may have to relocate the shifter hole or it's mounting spot on the tranny. If you're running a cable-shifted auto, you also have nothing to worry about.

yeah, and let's be honest here, if he's running slicks it's not very likely he's interested in handling.

No slicks, kust want to know the correct location of the mounts on the block before it's dropped in!

I think he's asking about the motor mounts not the frame pads.
