Can somebody please tell me what these wires connect to. I believe the one with the 2) wires and the resistor is for A/C compressor which this car has no A/C. The other I believe is for a high idle solenoid. The pink one with the missing end ,to the coil? And the one with the opposing blades and one wire to it I have no clue.[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

The plug w/ 2 wires + resistor goes to a solenoid that mounts on the front of the carb...I think it's called a TCS. It's not on your carb in the pic it's missing. Year of car will help others tell you more.

Its 1972 Skylark. Im able to figure the whole harness out except for these wires. I posted what I think they go to,but its only a guess. This is the harness from this car also. The carb is off a different motor.

Yeah...72...I can't help much, it had more smog stuff than mine. I think the broken pink is the coil +, I think your car also had an electric idle solenoid wich could be the other. Patience...someone will know!

The big black plug goes to the drivers side of your Turbo 400 transmission.

Could the one with the resistor be for a TCS solenoid? The individual one be for an idle stop solenoid ? And the one with the opposing blades go to the trans for another TCS solenoid? Im positive the one with the missing lug is for the coil. This carb has no solenoids on it at all,but its not original to this car. And its a turbo 350 trans and there is no switch on it either. The wires are on the passenger side of the motor. Im baffled.

On a 1972 350 Skylark, the TCS was the Transmission Controlled Spark advance, an emissions device that eliminated vacuum advance in 1st and 2nd gears, and allowed it in 3rd gear and reverse. On the 2bbl 350, there was a ported vacuum switch mounted in the front driver's side of the intake manifold. The connector that looks like an A/C clutch connector with resistor, went to the ported vacuum switch. The single plug that looks like a THM400 downshift connection went to an oil pressure switch that mounted to the THM350 case. The pressure switch signaled the vacuum switch to allow ported vacuum to the distributor vacuum advance canister when the transmission up shifted to 3rd gear. Some of the vacuum switches on cars with 4bbl carburetors, mounted to the intake or carburetor. There were various versions of the TCS, but they all worked the same. Bottom line, your engine will run better, cooler, and get better mileage without the TCS. You can get yourself a copy of the 1972 Buick Chassis manual to get more information. They are readily available on E Bay, in reproduced form, and even on CD ROM. The Chassis manual has pictures of the TCS and everything else about your car. It's a must have if you are serious about keeping and working on your car. Hope that helps.

Thank you very much! Thats the info I was looking for. I was thinking of picking up the service manual,I just may do that. Ive had these cars apart and back together more times then I can count, however the last time, has been about 20 years ago.Everything looks familiar but sometimes Im just not positive. Thank you again.

Your're Welcome. The Chassis manual has about 6 pages of diagrams on the vacuum hose connections for the TCS. It varied with engine, model, A/C, and cooling system option. Here's some links for the manual.
