You can probably find another cheap stock intake to modify, put the original aside. I have 2 1970 455 intakes in the basement collecting dust. You will want to find one locally, as shipping will kill most long distance deals. Or consider , if you are going to spend the time modifying a heavy stock intake, why not save the time, install an aftermarket aluminum intake , gain performance and remove a chunk of weight off the nose? You can get most of that gain rather than grinding from running a 1/2 to 1" open spacer. Or a 1/2 and a 1/4 if space is tight. If you already did the grinding, a 4 hole 1/2 with that would be the ticket based on testing I did years ago.
How can you go from a Quadrajet to open spacer and back to a 4 hole intake as in the first paragraph?
