If you can make any sense out of this, let me know. Lets get it straight... 1971, 1970, or 1972? Matching numbers how?

Not sure but my buddies each have a couple '66 Mustangs. Ford of this era had a "K" code engine among others without serial numbers cast or stamped.
For this application it's possible to get the right "Code" engine, trans. etc..??? & still call it matching??
Might be what the salesman is thinking here.

I think he's saying it is a 72 drive train in a 71 car, if so the codes couldn't match - although nothing is clear. It almost sounds like he's saying all the numbers matched the cars the parts came out of... Whoa, now that's interesting.

what's too understand? 1970 car with non-original paint color and 1972 drivetrain averages to a 1971.

Matching numbers 455 Stage 1, 4 speed transmission out of a 72 GS that was changed from automatic ... All parts are correct and date code except the transmission.

if you read that closely, i think he means that the drivetrain except the transmission is 'numbers and date matching'. that first sentence should have a period after 'Stage 1' and the transmission clause should be in a new sentence.

    '1970' is probably a typo.

but i would not stand by any of that evaluation without at least calling him and probably not without seeing the car myself since he screwed it up that bad.

He probably has fat fingers, enough to push 3 keys at once. Look on your keyboard number pad, thats the 0, 1, 2 are pretty close!:Dou: I bet it took him forever just to get the rest of the ad editted, so what if he missed a couple numbers and periods.:error: Give the guy a break. :spank: :TU:

With some luck, hopefully he put a few too many zeros on the asking price as well :D

I'll play too. I think he means a matching 1972 Stage #1 V code engine and
4 sp trans that have the same serial numbers .

I think he is one of those guys who never sells a car in their backyard " gonna rebuild it someday and retire".

Or he just spends most of his money on Hallucinagenic drugs. who knows..

This car has been floating around a while. It is a matching numbers stage 1 convert that someone wanted a 4 spd in so they butchered it and ripped out the automatic. Kind of sad, but the car performs much better with the 4spd. I still think this is not a bad price for this car. considering the other 2 out there are 89K and 98K. And the one at sloan was 129K.

Now where can i come up with 59K????
