Use the "Search" function of this board with "340" and you will find many posts.

The problem is that the 340 was only made for two years, and most parts do not interchange.

You can get a cam from Postons, and an Edelbrock carb is nice if your have a 4-bbl mainfold, which can only come from another 340.

If you are going to destroy the car's orginality anyway, then forget the 340 and swap in a generic SBC 350.

    NO, NO, NO!!!

Why use a SBC when a Buick 350 drops right in and bolts up to everything?

  4. It would be nice to keep the 340 inside the car - or is it a bad engine which problems or something? the problem is in germany you get some 350 chevy sb but a 350 buick sb will be hard to get.

Nothing wrong with the 340. There is very little in the way of aftermarket equipment for them, but stock they run forever and have decent power for the street. I have one with 190,000+ miles on it and it still runs fine.

Keep the 340! I have 172,000 on mine, runs strong lots of bolt on power available: ignition, exhaust, carb-air cleaner. Have seen cam, pistons, rods etc. If you keep the 340 it will also increase the value of your car since it was the orignal motor. Best regards, Mark

  7. i ll keep the 340

    thank you so much, guys!!!!!

i think ill keep the 340 in the car. hes a little bit underpowerd
but that i wanna fix with a some tuning.

and thats the next problem. last days i contacted the most german supplier/ us-car Motorpart dealers in germany but no one
had 100 % knowledge about the questions wich parts i need and what will fit.

is there anybody who knows a serious u.s. motorpart dealer who know what to do?:Smarty:

and for all the guys who had answered me some pic about the
netherlandish mechanics-works!! ( i bought the car in the netherlands at a car dealer who f......ed me up. theres a lot to do at the car - look and laught

Hey, Thats one way to burn rubber! Always a good idea to have spare belts for those long trips! I fixed a hole in my exhaust with a beer can cut in half and some tape, lasted the week I was on vacation. Better check the car out for more modern engineering like your hanger(previous owners can be creative).. Good luck man. Mark
