Did not really want to get involved in this one cause everyone will think I am biased because I am Donnys buddy. But I have to pipe in that overall I am disapointed with some people accusing him of ratting someone out when we all knew about this 3 years ago and left it alone for the joy of having the cars and people at the event. We laughed about it and had fun trying to catch Jim with all the stock stuff just too see if we could. Far as we were concerned the number he was running only hurt us and we did not care one bit it was funner having him at the event. Overall my biggest disaponintment is someone falling on there sword on this fourm and exiting the event because of the supposed accusation on this board when at the last event he was called out by other participants and the tech guys before he even raced. How can you blame Donny for outting this person after 3 years it was only a matter of time? All I can say is if you hold anything against donny regaurding this thread it is your loss because all of this crap is old news......

Wow! I had no idea any of this was going on behind the scenes. Donny's a fink!? (... sorry Donny; I don't believe it, but what a great chance to use that word). All along I was thinking we were all just having fun?

Lighten up folks. This was meant to be fun banter, not an expos... eh.

PS. Paul: I really liked the "falling on the sword" metaphor. :)

That's it, yeah, let's crucify someone. I say we call out the two guys that voted red! Yes sir, we could have ourselves a real on-line lynchin'. So 'fess up! What are you, chicken (or chicken farmers)? Come on you two-bit, low-life, double-crossing so and so's... Hey, maybe the blue guy will give us a hint...?

I know where Jim is coming from as I was in exactly the same boat when I was called out on my aluminum intake on my 68 W31. I also reviewed with Dan and Bob and decided I wouldn't push it and parked the car.

I went the other way and spent about $4k to correct it (that intake wasn't on there for a performance gain or weight savings...it was the only one that would fit after the heads got butchered). It was covered with the tech committee and everyone that knew us knew it was on there. We fixed it, the car is now parked anyway, wonder if it was the right thing to do, or just switch to the other car then instead of now..........sure would have saved a lot of money. :Do No: :Do No:

just so you know, I offered to loan out a correct set of heads, rockers, and intake........and pay for gaskets and fluids....loan shop tools and limited mechanical talent to help Jim pass tech.

just so everyone knows how much I don't want Jim there.....

I figure it can't take as long as it did to drive to Brighton to swap out a 4 speed trans on a Ram Rod :3gears:

That's why I'm putting Edelbrock Aluminum heads on the 427.

There the only ones that will fit and I'm a nice guy just having fun. :Do No:

The CNC porting I'm having done is for fit also.  :beer

C'mon Dave, at least your intake was made by Oldsmobile.

Not really the same boat. :beer

Well whatever the poll says this comes down to did Donny Brass dime out the Dart head Vette.

I decided to cut the crap and call the head tech guy Scott Tiemann.

Question: "Did Donny Brass or anyone else tell you about the Dart headed Vette?"

Answer: "F**k no! I walked up seen them, remembered a race car we put them on. I called over Dan and showed him....that's when the owner said well yea I'm just here having fun"

Question: "So no one told you about them?"

Answer: "I'm not a F**king idiot....you tell them that before anyone starts flapping their mouth about S**t they don't know have them call me. 517-647-2433."

Question: "Mind if I post that?"

    Answer: "No"

Like Paul Vitale said, It was just a matter of time.

expected response. but as i said the tech people can handle it. no problem with that. it's been said in this thread that "No one there is a saint". but it looks like you've found at least one. i'll be the sinner. the poll shows common sense among most.

You right, nearly half know to ignore would be wrong for the event :TU:

After the dust settles this is what we have learned.....

    • Donny didn't dime anyone out.

    • Scott Tiemann, being judge and jury, speaks his mind.

    • It's fun to watch the guys with aftermarket stuff run slower that those with stock stuff.

    • Just because you are "there for fun" doesn't mean you can bypass the rules.

    • Casey is still "a nice guy"

That last point would be a lot more convincing if you'd finish last once in a while.

    All I can say is...wow.

This is almost as ugly as the post on Gonzo's forum about that 69 Camaro which ran 11.50's in "Factory Stock" trim or umm "Pure Stock" trim.

    Well you get the idea.

I am glad Stefina cleared up the confusion about the "dime dropper"
    or "stool pigeon"
or Donny "I'd hate to rob a bank with him" Brass.

  19. I'm generally just a reader, but liked this thread - so I voted. I'll admit that I am one of the now three 'blue' guys, only because I watched that method work very nicely about 6-7 years ago.

I attended with a friend who had a '66 L79 Nova, it had trouble hooking, but was running huge MPH for that time at around 109, and with the Dynomax's even my 5 year old son could figure out that the cam wasn't stock :eek2: I recall Scott mentioning to my buddy that the car didn't sound 'stock', but only questioned the lack of a front sway bar - which is ok since the '66 Novas didn't get one I guess. Anyway, it was pretty clear that the car was not stock, and my friend was the object of many jokes that night at the hotel gathering. The next day, one of the three (Bob, Dan or Scott) came over when the event was winding down, and very nicely said that it was referred to them that the Nova was running a big roller and gently suggested that either the car be made more stock for the next event or maybe the owner should bring one of his other cars.

It all went down very nice, very quiet, without any hard feelings. I guess other owners could have ribbed my buddy some more, but without being a true 'regular' it was probably a bit awkward. Both methods would work, and the end result is that the car was changed back to stock, and the owner brought a different car to the next event.

    Good topic.

    Moral dilemma

I have to agree with Brian, the rules are the rules. If you don't want to run stock, go run brackets or FAST. Trying to "Optimize" a 30 or 40 year old car is enough of a challange, without changing parts and adding to my personal confusion. I'd much prefer if everybody would stick to the guidelines that Dan has laid out. If we don't, we're going to spoil the whole d*** thing for everybody. Guys with actual stock unmolested cars are semi-competetive now. If they are made to feel stupid because they're so slow, they won't show up again. We all lose.
