Anyone ever try the Moog 5372 Front Coil Springs. I just pulled the second pair of Moroso trick springs out of my Skylark and will be going with more of a street/strip suspension this round. I want to stay with a spring that comes with one square end and one tangential end. I won't be using the Moog 5230's because they have (2) square ends. The upper frame spring pocket in my 1970 Skylark is designed to use a Tangential End spring to fit properly, ..... not a square end. I have all the Moog specs and feel these 5372's may be the happy medium between a soft stored energy race spring and a stiff street spring, ... as well as they have the correct ends. I will have to weigh the car after its back together but for now the front is an Iron BBB with aluminum heads/intake, headers, battery in trunk, no-A/C, P/S, aluminum radiator, steel hood and front bumper. I will be installing Viking Dual Adjustable Shocks front & rear. Moog-5372 ..... (1)Squared & (1)Tangential Ends, Free Length = 17.38", Installed Height = 11", ID = 3.63", Wire Dia = 0.62" Rate = 289-lbs., Load = 1843-lbs. Constant Rate Larry
I think you want Eaton/Detroit springs as I believe they have the correct ends. There was just a big discussion about this on FB. I'm staying off there for now (nothing to do with the recent mele) but maybe @Brett Slater or @Jim Jones can link to it.
Thanks guys but I was asking if anyone has USED the Moog-5372 springs in their car (already know this spring is not in the application chart for my Skylark but I like the specs). As mentioned I already have all the specs I need as well as applications. I have an original 1996 Moog catalog plus there is plenty of info on the web concerning OE applications but that's not really the case here. Thanks for the input. Larry
I misunderstood -I thought Moog was out b/c of the ends, but maybe that other part# is different. I could be wrong, but I think Eaton can make anything you want if you give them the specs.
Well I just ordered a pair of the Moog 5372 front coil springs today. I will report the results, ... but it will be a while before they are installed. Larry
