money question

    kinda out of nowhere question but how much do you recon it will cost to build up a 455 to about 600 hp and what do you think i should buy and then would you think i could get more than 600 hp for $5000?

    just to broading your horzions. That 500+ hp 350 Tubbed built cost $6000 I believe.

    I think you can meet your goal for $5,000. Track down Gary Paine (greatscat). He might have some insight to help you out.

    I do believe that you will have to spend the $$$ and get T/A's Stage 1 aluminum heads to make that kind of power. There's about $2,500 right there. Careful planning and parts selection after that, especially if you already have a good core engine, and you should be able to make your goal.

    Tranny done? Rear end? Fuel delivery? Cooling? Carb change for low manifold pressure? Distributor recal for hot cam to idle? It's a whole package, as you know.

    i did my 500 h/p iron head 462 set up for about $4700, that was from the carb to full lenth headers. also includes distribitor, mini starter, stage one fuel pump, adjustable pushrods ect.

    $3200 parts
    $1500 mechine shop work (short block work,b&b rotating assemble, peened, installed APR bolts and resised rods,cross drilled crank and oil mods to block ,heads rebuilt with S1 valves and dual springs installed)
    $0 dissasimbled and assembled myself
    $0 rebuilt and modified timming cover myself
    $0 ported the heads myself
    $0 polished the rods myself
    $0 light porting on the SP 1 intake myself
    $0 rebuilt the distribitor and install a eletronic modual, myself
    $0 used rocker and shafts still good

    just my 2 cents, hope this helps
