My 63 LeSabre sat outside for about 10 years through hot/wet summers and cold winters. The door panels have some large mold or mildew stains on them, and the seats have some faint spots also, but they look more like dirt- same with the carpet. The interior is in otherwise great shape, no tears or anything.

I would really just like to clean it up nice. I was wondering about steam cleaning it? Can you steam clean an interior? My wife has this goofy little steam cleaner hand-held thing to use for cleaning tubs and showers. Probably ordered it off of a late-night infomerical. I thought about maybe trying that?

    Any ideas? Thanks.

A good interior cleaning solution is woolite/water mixed about 10/1. You could start with that and see how it does.

Try using a hot water extractor first like a Bissell Little Green Machine. Spray the fabric with a good cleaner, like Folex (can get at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) or diluted Woolite and lightly aggitate with a good interior/carpet brush. Then use the hot water extractor (distilled water works best, do not add any soap/solution to the extractor) to lift out the dirt/mildew, etc. That should do the trick. Let dry and use some 303 fabric protector and 303 vinyl protector to help keep your interior clean.

I would be very cautious using a steamer. They are pretty hot and can melt plastics, seat foam, door panel glues and ruin delicate fabrics if not careful.

I've tried many products on mold and Tilex works the best for me so far. Spray it on, wait ten minutes and wipe away anything that's left. Guaranteed to work.

Tilex is nothin more than bleach with a few additives. Do not use that on carpet because it will change the color.

well George, I thought the same thing. Once I ran out of Tilex, so I put some bleach in the Tilex spray bottle and cleaned my shower. Guess what, the bleach didn't come close to performing the same job. I don't know what else is in there, obviously there is quite a bit of chlorine, but it works.
