lowering the chassis height by new springs??
there are a few companies that offer kits; i`m concerned about rubbing the tires.

Lowering the suspension that way wouldnt be adviseable for the front end. The proper way to do it is with drop spindles. The front end geometry will be off lowering it by the springs. You also reduce the front end travel.

There's no issue using them in the rear though

I hate lowered older cars. Just not the way they were suppose to be. To each his own I guess however. Leave it to the hat on backwards Honda jerks.

    Lowered 2"

Here is a picture of mine with Hotchkis 2" lowering springs in the front. I love it. Handles better too.
Because the Buick 455 is so light, if I was to do over I would put small block coils in to help cushion the ride some.

Think that could work for me too? I've got a 455 in the Centurion, if I got springs for the lesabre which came with a 350? Anyone knows the weight difference between these engines?

Well, the green one there looks stock, thats two inches lowered? I understand it for cornering, but ya I too am from the stock height crowd. Whats real ugly??? Lowered trucks!!!!

On the front, you can just cut the coils. I cut mine with a Rotozip. It went through them in about 20 seconds with no big heat buildup. One full coil dropped the frontend about 1.25".

The differance in weight between the 350 and tha 455 is 100#s and you will not notice the differance.I made this change in my circle track car from a 350 to a 455 and had no noticeable differance and i still took the championship. And that motor is now in my chevy LUV yeha.

As a rule of thumb, Each 1/2 coil is about 1 inch. The first coil is different because the end is bent in toward the rest of the spring. I found out the hard way and destroyed a crossmember on a previous Skylark I owned.

Are you looking for look or performance? Not sure if you are talking about lowering the whole car, or just the front. If you are looking for looks, why not get some air shocks and bring the back end up instead of dropping the front? Thats what I have on mine and I dig the rake I get. I also like being able to adjust how much rake I get. The only problem is getting those headlights to stay ahead of me at night.

If You put AIR BAGS On all 4 corners you will get a great ride, and better handling. Before you put them on measure your Stock ride height, After you put the bags in preset your ride height so that it will come up to the stock height. That way you will not have any problems with the front end. I have rode in cars with the bags in them and they feel like you are riding on cloud! But driving the car above the stock or below the stock height will mess up your front end and your car will not handle well at all.Unless you rebuild your whole front end. I Think air bags get a bad rap! They have come a long way with them. They do make your car handle better and ride much better then the way they came from the factory. I like a car that sits in the weeds when parked. It looks cool, And I don't wear my hat backwards. To each their own.:TU: Air ride Tech did a weekend at Mid Valley Raceway with cars from the 60's and they had pro drivers such as Scott Pruiett and a few others drive them . They also drove the same cars with stock suspensions and the drivers got better times around the track with the air ride set ups.
