How do TA components work with Poston components, and vice-versa? Poston has a good camshaft but TA has the superior lifters and other items to go with it. Just want to know if it will work. Also who makes better pushrods, TA or Poston?

On valvetrain components, you should stick with ONE manufacturer, unless you REALLY know what you're doing!:Smarty:

    Just my opinion..

Steve, I think you'll be OK doing that. And I wasn't trying to say that mix-matching can not be done. I've done the exact same thing as you except for the rockers. I was more implying springs, retainers, keepers ESPECIALLY should be matched. Plus it can't hurt to have the RIGHT length pushrods to match the lifters. The springs of course MUST match the cam.

If in doubt about the compatability of any parts, at least talk to each different vendor about what your wanting to do. They may say that some stuff just won't work together.

OH NO! Danger , Danger! If you mix components like a Poston cam and TA lifters in the same engine , you will have a major battle going on inside the engine, the parts will fight with each other on a daily basis!!! LOL!!!!!

Ok, Ok, just kidding here people. There is no problem with doing what you are talking about. You just want to make sure that whatever parts you are using will work with other parts selected, like don't try to use stg-1 springs on a cam with .550 lift. You can use matched springs and retainers from either company that are compatible with whatever cam you are running.

As far as pushrods, I believe the adjustables are the same from either company, non adjustable, currently TA has the better ones as they are the .080 wall thick ones. To my knowledge, both companies buy from the same vendor, but that vendor does offer different wall thicknesses. Poston currently does not use the .080 wall rods, why? I don't know. Since I am no longer tech advisor for that company, I really have no say so or input on that kind of stuff.

They use different manufacturers for the cams, TA uses schnieder, Poston used Babe Erson, till , he passed away, now someone else took over the busines, I think another Erson relative. Seems like the entire Erson family is in the cam business. Jim Burek
