Hello , I have a 68 Skylark and did not keep my old rear panels when I bought the car. I know now...Rookie move! I have new ones, however, they don't have the top retainer pieces. What are my options to move forward. Thanks
Your best bet would be a wrecking yard, but finding something that old might present a problem. First, what model? 2 dr ht, 2 dr post, 4 dr etc. as they're specific to each model. The parts you need are the "upper rails", and they're the same on all GM A bodies (Chevelle/Malibu, Tempest/Lemans/GTO, Cutlass/F-85/442, Special/Skylark)in 68/69 which does expand your search. There are repro plastic rails for some GM cars, but I don't know about those. If it were a front door, your search would be easier since those fit all from 68-72. Good luck in your search.
Good luck. The ones you need are the hardest ones to find since there were a lot fewer 2 dr post cars than hts, and they are different. However, if you find ht ones, get 'em. They can be modified to work for a post car. The only difference is at the front where, I believe, you would need to notch the rail to fit around the post.
