    Seller's description

It’s time for someone else to have the fun and enjoyment that I’ve had, so I’m selling my 1961 Buick Electra 2-Door Hardtop. This car is a blast to own and with the RideTech Shockwave suspension it literally floats down the road like a cloud! I get more compliments and ‘thumbs-up” when driving this car than any other car in my collection. However, I have another car coming and I need to make some room. The Buick is built on the same chassis as the Chevrolet Impala bubble top from this era, but the Buick has more distinctive and classic styling cues from the “rocket-era” of automotive design. Examples include the pointed front fenders and nosecone tips on the front bumpers along with the dash-mounted clock pod and the aluminum, stainless steel, and chrome accents throughout the interior. Features RideTech Shockwave suspension allows you to raise the car up for normal driving and drop it almost to the frame when parking. It has modern disc brakes in the front featuring slotted / cross-drilled rotors and calipers from a C4 Corvette. Staggered Ridler 695 wheels that are 18” in the front and 20” in the rear. Front tires are 225/45R18 and the rears are 275/40R20. Wheels are in excellent shape with no scratches or curb rash. All of the glass is in excellent shape with no chips, cracks, or scratches. Paint and Body The most striking feature of the car is the Sun Valley Cream body with the Dublin Green Iridescent paint on the top and tail panel. The body is straight with no visible signs of collision damage. All of the chrome and stainless trim is straight and is in original and great condition for a car that is nearly 60 years old. Most of the paint is original but some areas of the top and lower portions of the body have been repainted. The car shows extremely well and is a solid 10-footer. The paint shows a perfect mix of patina and wear for its age. Interior The interior is in mint condition and features green cloth and vinyl upholstery. The seats, headliner, sun visors, kick panels, and carpet are all new. The dash and door panels are original and in immaculate condition with no cracks or visible wear. The dash-mounted analog clock, the original Sonomatic AM radio, and all of the interior courtesy lights work perfectly. The dash features the original Mirromagic instrument panel (its a reverse mounted gauge cluster that’s viewed in an adjustable mirror…very unique) with a ribbon-type speedometer and SpeedMinder indicator the works great. Engine and Transmission The car has what is believed to be its original engine and transmission. The engine is a 401 cubic inch Wildcat 445 V8 that was originally rated at 345 HP and 445 ft-lbs of torque. The engine starts right up and idles perfectly. The transmission is a two-speed Turbine Drive automatic that shifts great and cruises down the highway at 70 mph. The odometer currently shows 40,733 miles, but its inoperable so the actual mileage is unknown. The exhaust system is new and the fluids have been recently changed. Things to know I have a current Oklahoma title in my name that is listed as salvage/rebuilt. Based on the research I’ve done, the salvage title goes back to the days when the car was in PA. The car was supposedly water damaged but I can’t find any evidence that the water was ever inside the car because the rockers, floors, trunk, etc are solid (see photos) and none of the wiring appears to have ever been wet. The transmission dipstick bung has a slight leak that is an easy fix, but I just haven’t had time. Also, like every other air-bagged cruiser or hot rod, the air-ride suspension system loses air overnight. This doesn’t impact performance…it just needs to be pressured up before driving. This should also be an easy fix requiring nothing more than Teflon tape, a bottle of soapy water and a few hours to seal and tighten the connections. Lastly, the right front tire has a small air leak that takes several days before it loses noticeable pressure
