While trying to hook up the switch pitch wiring on my 67 Skylark (340-4 w/ ST300), I noticed a metal tag attached to the trnny just above the electrical connector on the driver's side. It had something stamped on it, but I could not read it -- will need to take crud off. What is this tag for?
    Thx,
    Byas

Does it look kind of like this? If so, that would the transmission serial number. I'm not sure what it would be otherwise. Mine's a TH400 and the tag is on the passenger side if I recall correctly.

See pic. Tag is to the right of the connector and angled up and to the left. The stamping in the center looks like P(or D)AU6(orE)
