    Whooops!

That happened here in G'ville a few years ago when a round a bout was installed in a main street before everyone realized it was there.

Its California, she will probably sue the city and county for recklessly placing the boulder and the round-about in the middle of the road and causing all the physical damage as well as her suffering and mental anguish. It was probably her concern for how the change in traffic pattern would impact local wildlife migrations that made her drink!

Glad no one was hurt in this accident. But all that was missing was the horn playing dixie while the car was in the air

Actually, a roundabout (we call 'em rotaries in Massachusetts) has been proven to be the most efficient way to handle traffic at a busy intersection. If you are too stupid to be looking at what's directly in front of you when driving, you shouldn't be driving. JMO.

Wisconsin is installing them in many locations. Lots of fun with a tractor trailer pulling a 53' wagon. :p:D

I've begun to appreciate how they work.

I read the blogs below the news posting of this story. Someone said the black Camaro belonged to his son who was recently stabbed to death at that intersection. Sad state of affairs.

I didn't say that many rotaries are way too small. Here in Naples Florida they are installing several I think that they are too small to negotiate with a big rig. In Massachusetts most are large and would not be a big problem for the rig that you describe, Tom.

The efficiency is debatable. They are the most safe intersections though. I think that's the main motivation behind them though.

I like them way better than a 4 way stop when there is lots of traffic. Who is supposed to go?

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

Whoever stopped first gets to go, other then that you yield to the right. If you and the person ahead of you stop at the same time and one of you is turning left, the guy going straight goes first. It's basically a common courtesy thing and whatever will make things go smoothest/quickest without impeding the flow of traffic is the rule of thumb, basically common sense which isn't so common anymore. This town I live in has a ton of 4 way stops and roundabouts, and nobody knows how to use either of them.

I hate them around here. Here they are all 4 way yields so no one stops, if one car goes then the ten cars behind it don't even stop. I'll take a 4 way stop over a traffic circle any day.
