A little corner dealer in Cheyenne Has a 79 Lesabre 2 door for sale. $750. Body is good, interior needs some attention( dirty, securing door panels etc) Says it runs good.

Anyone know about these? What motor was in these 350 buick or???? I think these are one of the best looking newer buicks.

    Thanks for th help

How can you tell if it is a Buick or poncho engine? I would asume that they are a B-body? Can later parts be used on them?

    Thanks

There has been a '79 LeSabre 2dr for sale here for $750. Which has since been sold. And now a '78 Lesabre 4-dr for $1995.

    Tim,

350 Buick engines have the distributor on the front, Chebby, Olds and Pontiac have them on the rear of the engine.

Some also had the Olds 403 and others had the Buick 3.8 V-6.
The turbo coupe model had the turbo V6 (with a standard 4 barrel carb on turbo LeSabres). The 78-79 LeSabre turbo is the model that I like the most. Some even had bucket seats and an operating console too.
One thing that I never figured about these cars is that some had the small bolt pattern wheels (like the car that Keith's picture shows and A bodies) while others had the large bolt pattern wheels. It doesn't seem related to the engine size, body style (I don't think wagons had the small bolt pattern wheels but other body styles had both), model year (77-79) or the rare rear disc brake option. All the 78-79 turbo V6 I have seen had the large bolt pattern wheels, I think I have seen a turbo 1980 with the small bolt pattern wheels but that was many years ago...

    Rob,
    This LeSabre is not a 1978, it's a 1982 or 1983.

Last I checked there was a Palm Beach in Feezles junkyard. I remember it running around this area about ten years ago. Its a shame someone junked it.

The Buick large cars of 77-up are cheap and fairly reliable. The Olds powered ones are the most likely to pass emissions testing. The Buick 350 ones are the most torquey. The little Pontiac motors aren't powerful, but they do seem to soldier on well.

Problem areas? I'd say the lousy heater cores are the biggest trouble. Top speed on the fan motors usually don't work either.

Outstanding areas? Go to any junkyard and find several Buick/Olds/Pontiac/Chevy cousins and get all the parts you need cheap!

What rear end were the small bolt pattern? 7 1/2, 8 1/2.
A friend of mine has a 79 Turbo LeSaber with the big bolt pattern and it is a
8 3/4. He's trying to put in 3.42's but there is no such gears for that rear end.
