I can only get the MAX air to work on my 72, the other three positions do nothing. I have read the resistor array is inside the car, can it be seen, do I need to remove the glove box to get to it?

This resistor array is what controls the speeds of the blower, Right???

Search the olds posts I think that problem was discussed at length.

    RELAY LOCATION

If I'm not mistaken, that relay is under the hood. It is the rectangular one, smack dead center on the firewall.
They are available from Year One!

    It's right behind air cleaner.

I did check the relay, but I can't find the resistor array for the blower speed control. "Year One" had that too in stock and I think that is where the problem is.

I read in one of the posts that it is inside the interior area screwed into the air handler area, somewhere close to the heat AC control panel.

Jamie Carnes May the Torque be with you.

Does your switch have much play in it between positions? If so, the problem could be there as well. I had a similar problem and solved it with a different switch.

The relay (as mentioned in posts above) could be the problem as well. Try the simplest solutions before moving to the more complex.

No the speed selector is pretty tight. like it's suppost to be. I have wiggled it around and did not get any kind of indication the blower was turning on.

Still can't find that Resestor array...

Yeah but at least you don't have to remove the fender to get the blower out! Lucky dude!

Not sure about Skylark's, but every other resistor array I've ever seen on a GM was under the hood, on the airbox, located just downstream of the blower motor. That way, it always has air flowing across it to keep it from burning up. On my LeSabre, it's just to the outside of the a/c evap section.

    Finally figured out photo editing...

If your Skylark has A/C, look between the blower motor and the evaporator, as indicated.

If your Skylark is without A/C, it's inside the car, on the top of the heater box, in the middle between the heater core and the defrost outlets.

Sorry I don't have a scanner, I'd post the Chassis Manual pics. If you still can't find it, ask Adam Martin, username "Smartin" on this board, he should be able to scan and post the pics.

Bingo, thats what I'm looking for, Thanks everyone, that puppy must be bad, I looked closer at the wires going to the relay and the connector is melted. I am going to pop out the resestor array and see if I have a short.

    This forum rocks.......

FIXED. Fouund the resestor array right where 'JAYMER" said it was. It did turn out to be the Relay. I fixed the relay. The good thing is now all the connectors have been cleaned and the system works great now.

    Thanks for all the help...
