    Suggestions?

I'm looking to run this cam with '71 455 in '71 Riviera. Stock ex. manifolds, 2.5" exhaust, minimal mufflage, 2x4 intake.

    street maxi three specs:
    lift: 510/534
    dur@.050: 232/260
    112 lobe center

    Thanks!:TU:

That cam has quite a bit of overlap at .050, I believe around 20 to 25 degrees? It's a pretty large cam for an 8to1 motor.
with the stock pistons down in the hole , you probably won't have piston to valve interference, but it's always good to check.
The 232 on the intake side keeps the idle fairly conservative.

If the 455 is all stock , including stock valve springs, they will bind from too much lift.

I agree with Jim Burek, i ran this cam in my 71, & according to my computer program this cam likes compression. It's a darn good cam with mild port stage 1 cast heads. It really pulls hard to 6000. This cam is a good choice for an all iron engine. I know a few stock appearing guys running this cam with success. Randy

Cool, thanks for the replies. Looks like the springs get replaced. I wasn't aware the '71 motor was low compression. No $$ to go further into it than the top end right now! I'm not sure of the history on this motor, odo shows 100k + miles but no noises or smoke. I'm going to do the pump and check compression when I do the cam/ intake and hope for the best!
