Has anyone noticed any punch marks on the VIN number tag of their 60's Buick. I can decypher two of them. A dash after the word BUICK--- (<=== would be a solid line )means that all 5 15" x 6" wheels were replaced on the vehicle during a factory recall 65-189 dated August 27, 1965. This would be on 65 Wildcats and LeSabres. A dot under the letter U in the work BUICK means that the brake-fuel line clip installation and brake line inspection was performed on 64 Skylark Station Wagons and 65 Sportwagons per recall 65-115 dated February 24, 1965. Anyone else find marks???
Jim, I also thought it was interesting, and now that the subject has come up, I was wondering how you were able to come up with that information. Duane
BUICK DEALER SERVICE INFORMATION Periodic letters sent to the dealers advising the of problems, upgrades, changes, recalls, revised service procedures, superceded parts, updates to shop manuals, etc. I have a large amount of them for the 1965 Buick. Since it goes to the dealer it covers all Buick series.. Here's one on how not to loose the medallions on chrome wheels. With the part number for the special part. ( #1373248)And you thought the medallions were rare...........Anyone ever seen one of these clips????
Here's one... A hole punched thru the cowl data plate on a '66 Special/Skylark means it has the reinforcements installed for a shoulder belt. I have service bulletins for '66 too!
