Hello guys, I removed the intake on my 401 to replace the gaskets and cut out the dividers to get the famous "doc dual-plane intake". Now ive seen that the tee-fitting, where the power brake vacuum is connected to, was already sheared off completly. Can anybody tell me where I can find a new fitting, for a 1963 Riviera? I attached a picture, to better explain what I mean. :TU: Thank you. Greets
Bastian, Well , pard , you need to cut the other side of that manifold out.... be sure to leave the center divider in... I probably have one of those fittings laying around, send me your address....
Any auto parts store will carry a vacuum nipple fitting that will work for you. First, you need to get the old one out, it's sheared off. Should be easy enough.
I took the picture just after I cutted one side out, had no time yet to finish both sides. Yes I will leave the center divider in, I just want to grind everything a bit more out, to better match my carb spacer for the holley carb. Thanks for your offer, theres only a problem, Im not living in the U.S. Ill send you a PM. :beer @Larry: I tried already a few local car part stores, had no luck yet, here in Germany. The old fitting is already removed from the manifold.
Try a hardware store. It's a brass fitting. You should be able to find it. http://www.fastfittings.com/hb-male-adapter
You are forgetting just one thing Larry,,,, where he is everything is metric.... that fitting is going to have to be 1/8 pipe thread American....or 1/4 pipe thread American.....[in inches]:Brow: :Brow:
Doc, I don't think everything is Metric in Europe, but it will be more difficult for sure. Maybe we should just put one in an envelope and send it to him.ou:
That is what I was thinking,,, but I dont have his address.... I think I have some of them laying around in the shop.....
If I had a American car in any other country than North America, my best resource for these kinds of things would probably be a Grainger Catalog or McMaster Carr, or the like... I would probably have every page marked and dog eared and wore out. It's good that Doc is such a nice guy to give away free parts. That works too! Hey Doc! Can you send me your catalog??? :bla: :moonu: Erik
Hey guys, My apologies for taking you back to subjects long gone, but is the performance gain by using the Doc Dual Plane method a low RPM torque deal, or a higher RPM HP deal?...or both? I read past posts, but may have missed a few. I read the gessler website and their flow% claims, but I am not smart enough to know how a flow % increase translates into torque or HP increases. Does it affect idle or am I just being a moron now? Thanks
Hey Doc, Would you describe it as responsiveness or just simply more torque and HP Thanks for taking the time
I've done the Doc-Dual Plane mod, but haven't had the car running yet. It should improve performance (both HP and torque) in all RPM ranges, and I would also assume it would make it a little more responsive. It is in effect a low rise dual-plane design. I'd be interested in seeing this done to one of the higher rises 2x4 manifolds. That ought to be screamer, at least until Marty releases his intake.
Well,,,. I am a simple guy....  Its just more brute power....:Brow: :Brow: A a nailhead has brute power,,, its just more brute power....
I have an NOS I got but it does not fit my car. Threads are smaller. Maybe it is correct for his. I would part with it for What I paid and shipping. $10 plus. Still in GM wrapper. It is steel as well not brass.
Thanks for your offer! But Doc already sent me his parts! Thanks again to you Doc, there are not a lot of guys outside like you are!! :TU: Doc, Ive sent you a PM! Bastian
