I remember reading them as a kid in the 70's. Pretty funny.

Loved Mad as a kid. Another victim of the Internet age. It’s soulless.

A sad day indeed. In the 60's I got an issue with a bumper sticker in it with "BUMPER STICKER" on it. I later put it on my Mom's '69 Skylark's bumper. As usual I found a picture on the internet.

I grew up with it too; - and got the gags long before my peers did or some of the adults who took them away from us did. Some of the artwork in there was what inspired me to learn how to draw, I wish I'd have kept that up.
They took on the Establishment and kept it honest by exposing its more idiotic and stupid ideas and acts. Nothing was sacred to them. They exposed things for what they were, stupid and poorly thought out.
I think it probably is a good idea to wind the magazine down, in this Orwellian nightmare of Political Correctness and Progressiveness that we live in these days, most of the Snowflakes wouldn't get the gags and take things far too seriously and be grievously offended to the point of requiring grief counselors. Soon a political movement would be afoot in the universities to have it banned as "Subversive overly satirical hooliganism that unduly influences young minds to think in ways that are harmful and counterproductive to the betterment of tolerance and reconciliation in society today. Unbridled laughter is considered harmful and offensive as it offends many who see things through a progressive lens and with an all-seeing world view".

First time I read MAD as a kid was a revelation. Had a subscription for years.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

That brings back memories. As stated, their satire had few boundaries. It was 'dispensed' equally with zero political favoritism or gender bias. If it existed, it was a target.

I hope no one is killed off like Archie was. Sad way to end a comic book.
