Hey got my 430 block stripped down. Found that a few of the old pistons were worn out. But getting ready to go to shop and have them sonic test the core and magnaflux it. If all is good with block then was wondering what people thought about getting crank not only magnaflux but have them tirn it .010 on the journals? I’ve read this a few places.. is this something you guys think its worth it?

I wouldn't fool with sonic checking a 430,...stock Buick cranks in stock applications don't crack,..and don't turn it unless it needs it

Per Jim Weise he recommends sonic testing the 430 block for core shift. So that’s what I’m doing. I would hate to start putting money into an engine that doesn’t have the wall thickness it needs. Just makes sense to me.

FYI - we don't turn the crank until we have the bearings measured out. You might only need .008 instead of .010 on a journal to get the correct clearance needed.

Have the machine shop measure and then they can advise YOU.
It’s like going to a doctor and telling him what meds you need because you THINK you have an issue :D
