I called a guy today that has a 74 Lesabre Luxus convertible for sale. What is this Luxus mean? He wants 6k for it but I have not seen it. Second owner no rust red and white seats. I dont know anything about the big cars.
    Thanks

I think this was just a name that all of the convertibles had that year, but I may be wrong. My uncle also used to have a 74' LeSabre convertible and it had "Luxus" under the "LeSabre" nameplate.

The Luxus was a separate series of the LeSabre, named the LeSabre Luxus.

Regular LeSabre had a VIN starting with 4N

The LeSabre Luxus had a VIN starting with 4P

All 1974 model year LeSabre ragtops were the LeSabre Luxus model, but there were also LeSabre Luxus 4 drs sedans, 4 drs HT sedans and 2 drs HT coupes.

Pretty rare cars nowadays, only 3627 were produced that year.

Ed, is that car still here in Fargo? It was for sale on Main Ave at the place close to the Bikes Unlimited store for the past couple years. I didn't stop by there this past summer, but last summer I went in and talked to the store owner about it. Last year he wanted $3500 for it. It must be the same car. 74 LeSabre Luxus (Custom, I think) 'vert w/455. Red, with white interior. It showed some bubbling in places, if I recall correctly, and the rear bumper was rusting out. One of the shop guys there said the 455 was recently rebuilt, but they had trouble with overheating whenever they drove it around. It needed a new top too. They kept it indoors with the top down. It didn't look bad from 20', but it wasn't a 6k car. Maybe he sold it, and you're dealing with a new owner... :Do No:

"LUXUS" was the upgrade trim in the 73-74 Century and 74 LeSabre. It replaced the "CUSTOM" trim that was used on the 72 Skylark and 73 LeSabre and "CUSTOM" was used again in 1975 on both LeSabre and Century models.

Dave this car is in Grand Forks and I have not seen it. The guy that owns it bought it and a 64 SS chevy convertible from an old couple about 3 years ago. He sold the 64 and is now going to sell this car. I will ask him if it was for sale down here. Here said eveything is really good on the car.

Thanks for all the input on the Luxus trim option. You can never konw to much about Buicks! :TU:

Hmm, 3yrs ago... last time I saw the car here was "maybe" 2 yrs ago. I hope it turns out to be as nice as they are telling you. The one here really wasn't all that bad, woud have made a decent summer cruiser, but I didn't have any extra cruisin' money for it. :(

I had a '73 Century Luxus. It was white on white on white.
