Is there a website to look at Lunati cams for Buicks? I see several guys running Lunati cams but can't find them on the web. I'm looking for a good solid capable of hi 10's. Another brand that I'm interested in is Scott Brown cams but none listed on his website.

their cam listings are at www.holley.com/Lunaticamshafts/. The owner of Ultradyne cams is now with Lunati, so they have a lot of nice updated profiles. You have to look under sm. blk. chevy listing for the new grinds. Of course they can put it on a Buick core with any lobe center you desire. Also, you might want to check out www.bulletcams.com they have a ton of grinds available.

This is the same link that I found earlier but no mention of solids namely the SP series.

There's a couple of decent looking grinds but it doesn't look like they grind anything for Buick, all Chevy grinds ground on Buick shafts.

I would look up Lunati cams here. I got the distinct impression that these are not good cams for Buick. Lunati grinds for chevies and does not really like working on Buick stuff.

That's what I thought. I see a couple of guys on the board running SP2 and SP4(?) running high 10's. Maybe these were cams that Lunati used to make.

    It's interesting comparing lobe profiles.
    For intake:
    Comp's 284-3 has a 236 deg @ 0.050", with 284 seat dur, and 146 dur at 0.200", 0.490" max lift. Bullet's H285/324 has 1 degree more seat (285) and 1 deg less 0.050" (235) durations, with the same 0.200" dur (146) and .502" max lift.

    For exhaust:
    Comp's 292-2 is 244 dur @ 0.050, 292 deg seat, and 153 deg @ 0.200" . Bullet's H295/324 has 3 more deg seat (295), 1 more deg .050 (245), and 2 more deg at 0.200" .

Where am I going with this? I dunno.

    There's also Lazer cams: http://www.lazercams.com/CamTables.html

Here's a thread where John Hixson has a Lunati SP2 and cracked the 10's. I have a local friend that has a Lunati SP2 that he installed 10+ years ago that ran low 11's back then. I don't see anything in the Lunati catalog about the SP series.

The SP2(now SP235) & SP4 are a couple of Torque Techs' profiles which they developed on scotty Guadagnos' dyno about 12-15 years ago. Torque Tech owns the masters, Lunati just grinds them. www.torquetechexh.com then just scroll down to Buick home page.

That must be it. I REALLY like the SP4. I had my sights set on a 308s but seemed a bit much for 11.0:1 with Stage 2 SE's. I want to crack the 10's but don't want to over cam the engine.

The SP4 is a great cam, but it's really designed for STG 1 heads. Notice the 17 degree spread between intake & exhaust(253/270). Keep in mind too that it's a hydraulic, so you have to subtract about 10 degrees off the 308 to compare = (258/264). The 308 is more set up for STG 2s' with its 6 degree spead and increased lift(.598/.584) compared to SP4(.558/.546). You could have it put on a 110(instead of 108) lobe center for somewhat better street manners.

    10's?

As long as you GS ain't no "pork chop" 10's sould be easy with a good flowing set of aluminum heads. Try to get a cam with @.600" lift or so get good use out of your good flowing heads. The 308 is a strong cam which is basically the same duration as my Roller and I run only 11.6 comp and it's installed straight up at 108 intake c/l. (Advancing it 4 degrees to a 104 c/l would make the cam more "friendly"). I don't think you want to go with a "SP" series cam being they have alot of extra exhaust duration for iron heads which you don't need with SE Stg 2's. Something in the low 260's on the intake and mid 260's for the exhaust ground on a solid flat tappet would put you were you need to be with the right parts to fit the combination. TA sells a 260/266 .584/.611" lift 110 l/c solid cam part#294-04f. It just a bit milder than the 308 but should give you enough to get you in the 10's....easy. If that don't work, just put a little nitrous kit on it. If that don't work you need to let someone else drive.:Brow:
When you go to cam companies web sites look at there "lobe Master" section to give you an idea what they can grind for you. They should have all there lobes from mild to wild. your best bet is to find a cam company and call them. They usually have more profiles than they could ever list. Good luck.

Excellent info guys. I like the 308s, but my thought was it may be a bit too much cam for my combo. I'm still putting the combo together, but want to plan ahead. So far I've got Ross 11.0:1's balanced on reconditioned rods w/arp's, .10 under crank, grooved cam bearings, KB Wildcat(new), Holley 950 HP, MSD, 3500-4000 convertor, 3.42 posi (planning on 3.73-4.10) and will order Stg 2 SE's while they're on sale.

TA also grinds a cam which basically has the 308S intake lobe on the exhaust side too. Mike T told me some time ago they had good luck with it with the Stage 2 SE's. Give them a call and tell them what you are doing, they have more than what is in the catalog.

I went with the 308S on 112LCA, thinking it might idle a bit better and work well with nitrous.

I guess I'll stick with the 308 then. I'll call Mike before I order it to inquire about the other cam that you mentioned Adam. I'm trying to get my wife to order my heads for my birthday in a few weeks. I don't think she's going for it, so maybe I'll piss her off and order them myself:Brow: The worst thing that could happen is she'll be mad for awhile or I'll have 2 sets!:beer
