It looks to be in decent shape: https://lacrosse.craigslist.org/cto/d/arcadia-buick-wildcat/7180951979.html
Boy I remember when you literally couldn’t GIVE THESE AWAY (ask me how I know arrrrgh & my two were a BUILT sleeper convertible and rare bucket seat 2dr loaded which included vacuum operated door locks I only took an 8 k loss back in the 1990’s). Boy they will fry the rear hides (mine had a posi) with that honking 430 though! Still like the lines (well except the extra doors) With the build the Chamberlain did, B4B,Stage 1 heads,KB window rattler,3000 rpm stall, high geared posi, modified distrib.& carb and shift kit that thing with the two piece driveshaft , I kid you not would roast 1st and bark all the way into 3rd gear WITH a full load of passengers. Miss that car but it was like a “Christine” hated my wife (first ride I BARELY touched the brakes moving out of parents driveway and you would thing I had done a full pedal lock down! 1st real date and there my sweetie goes slamming into the dash pad edge leaving a BIG ole knot and swollen eyes as we went to nieces family picnic. “Did John Beat you or something?!!” Grooooan and it got her several other times with unrelated antics (ooozzzing black after market sealant all over her new little white tennis shoes, hydraulic top freezing 1/4 closed during date in rain, real fun fighting hydraulics (!) and the cherry on top dropped the clanging right tailpipe for the 45 minute ride home, was a true joy, yeh it got sold but damn was that thing the ultimate sleeper!
You still can't give them away nowadays either. I have my convertible up for sale, and while lots of people have looked at it online, no serious offers yet. Is it overpriced at $17,000 Canadian? I don't know...it has a nice interior and a great body. It's a big car that people automatically assume gets 3 gallons to the mile, even though it's comparable to a modern V8 pickup. And so it sits...much like that hardtop will.
Mine has been for sale for 2 weeks now and only getting calls from low ballers or flakes. I feel your pain Marc.
I never looked how many doors my car has, but, it was a gift, so.... I do love my car. Four doors are good for a family man who wants that muscle car look. I know putting my Granddaughters car seat in the back, then putting her in is a pain with a two door. i did add the car seat head restraint hooks from an F350 my brother-in-law was parting out. Safety for her first.
Honestly I just think there are fewer and fewer car guys as time goes on. Sad but true. People over 50 that weren't true car guys then. They haven't suddenly became one. Give them a new Lexus they are good. Rebuild a carburetor? Yeah not so much.
I wasn't a car guy. Heck, I am a poor mechanic. I can do basics, but I am learning all I can. Since 1995 I have driven vehicles that didn't break down much, well, except for the Ford Aerostar, but that is another story. My Dad tried to teach me, to tell me I need to know this, but, young and stubborn (stupid) I was going to be a cook, then a technician in telecommunications. Then Ray gave me my Wildcat. Okay, steep learning curve and get to know a great old time mechanic. I have done more in the last year than I thought I was capable of doing. also learning from the internet, Youtube. Uncle Tony's Garage. He has mopar, but teaches basics that can be applied to many old cars. So, wasn't a car guy, but trying to learn. You can teach an old dog new tricks, I guess. PS: Nope, I wouldn't like a Lexus. I have turned down numerous offers for trade to newer, upscale vehicles. My answer... The car is like one of my kids, you do not trade!
