    Brian,

You did an excellent job describing the car, and the paint turned out pretty nice with all that hand rubbing. Looks like you missed a few spots when you vacuumed though. :spank:

Thanks Chris. I used every old thing of rubbing compound and every old sock from a family of 5 rubbing. Yep, it could use some sweepin'! Got to leave something for the next guy!

    Brian,

Did you know it was featured on the Bring-a-Trailer website ?
(with a link to the eBay auction)

Thanks for bringing that to my attention Erik. I think that link maybe one reason it's gotten as many views as it has. Some folks aren't buying into the mileage. I'm gonna add some comments to my description that may help convince a few people elsewise.

Chris, I guess this is the same one that I was going to look at for you
when it was in Ohio? But the owner decided to keep it in the family
    at that time?:Do No:

Yes Roger, it is the same car. I kept in touch with the owner. Actually, he kept in touch with me and we eventually made the deal. I think his Father in Law had some interest in the car.

Brian, looks like you got a decent price for it.
Hope things go smoothly with the transaction.

That makes 2 of us. Bidders included people from Finland and Austrailia.

    Chris,

Apparently not good enough. The buyer is out of the country. He had a dealership pick up the car last week and his brother took delivery. The seller has since asked for either a 1000 cash or to return the car. I was blown away. Needless to say, I couldn't even imagine saying yes to either of these "solutions" when the purchaser hasn't even seen the car. Now I'm being threatened with bad feedback. It makes me sick to see this car go to people that have no appreciation for it. :(

    So what ?
Don't take this eBay stuff too seriously, who cares about "bad feedback" ?

You had a good life before eBay, you can have a good life without eBay :bglasses:

They claim it didn't run when it got there. If that's true, it certainly didn't help any first impressions. Other than taking it out of the garage for the shipper to load, I hadn't driven it since I took the eBay pictures a month ago. It literally started the first time, everytime, for me and had an unusually smooth idle that I attributed to it's low mileage. There weren't any details about whether it cranked over or not. Their other two beefs are the paint, which I thought I had sufficiently picked apart in the description, and they are dubious about the 14k miles. Dubious is the purchasers term. I knew from the bring a trailer site that there were people who didn't believe the mileage because the engine compartment was dirty. That's exactly what these guys are saying too. I addressed that as best I could in the auction to the point where I thought I was beating a dead horse. I told the guy that the under hood picture in the auction was a very good indication of the underhood condition.

What bothered me most was he couldn't say anything positive about the LeSabre. Not one good word. Very hurtful. I've only had one other experience close to this with the 30 or so classic cars I've probably sold over the years, and it was with a fellow that I've seen on here. Whether he chimes in or not, I don't know. That was about 20 years ago. There are at least three other people on here I have sold GS's to that, as far as I know, were nothing but happy with the deal.

The word "NO!" comes to mind.

I think someone is trying to pull a fast one and scam you out of $1000

You buy something... you own it. If there is an issue with what you bought.. then you didn't do your homework. "Let the buyer beware" or walk away...

Obviously I haven't seen the car in person, but I thought that your description was very complete and thorough based on what I learned from talking to the previous owner and from looking at your pics.

Perhaps they were trying to start it w/o touching the gas, like a new car? :spank:

Thanks Chris, and yes, I thought the same thing about trying to start it. She's no fuel injection!

Discription sounded thorough and plenty of pics to show what it was. When you buy a car unseen its buyer beware to a point but you were honest in your ad.
Sounds like the guy is trying to scam you.

    itpphoto What just happened ?

Threatening to leave bad feedback unless you do something is a big ebay NO NO, I would report them to ebay, send any emails / messages you have.
