I am looking to get my truck running in the low 11's or high 10's for not a lot of money. I have a ranger that sits on a hand built frame, ford 9 inch rear with 4:11's in it. the truck weighs 2200 with the driver in it. 4 link rear suspension with 33x16 slicks, i will be running a turbo 400 tranny with a 10" tci street fighter torque converter. I have a 72 buick 455 that was just rebuilt totataly stock. What parts should i put on the engine to get it running where i want?

12.5 to 1 pistons Ross are the bugdet ones but are heavy. A TA 608 Hydralic cam I had in my 4000 lb car and a set of stage 1 heads my car went lots of 11.0's and a few 10.90's

Check out the weight of only 2200 lbs! He doesn't need near the motor that Mike ran with 4000 lbs!

Might not need all that motor, but would'nt it be cool if he built it anyway!!

Just to give you some ideas: My 81 Olds Cutlass with a Buick 455 in it runs 11.60's. Car wieghs 2,900 lbs.
    .030 pistons
    TA 510 cam
    TA SP1 intake
    Holley 950 HP Series carb
    TA roller rockers
    TA headers
    Stock crank and rods
Stock 72 455 heads with stock small valves.
    Electric water pump set up
    No power steering
350 transmission with 3,800 stall 10 inch convertor
    MSD ingnition and distributor
    3:70 gears
I shift the car at 5,400 and it sees 5,700 in the traps
It should not take too much to get a vehicle of that weight to go low 11's.
Hope this info helps you some what,
