I have a 67 Buick special with the two speed transmission and the parking gear has seemed to go out. I got under there to see if the linkage had become loose, but that was straight. Do these transmissions have the parking gear go out on them frequently. Is there something i could have missed or will i need a trans rebuild? What other transmissions would bolt straight up without modification? Thanks.
Loosing park is not a common occurence an any automatic. I suggest you remove the transmission pan and inspect the internal linkage assembly. You may find something out of place/damaged in there.
