I used to put a little blue lock-tite.

I also doubled up the gaskets that somone recommended years back(not sure if I used lock-tite with the double gaskets). I am sure others are doing things different now. But I never did have that problem once I used the lock-tite.:TU:

Put flat washers under them. Seriously-- this will fix it. Mike D.

Two ideas for you. Look at the Breslin locking header bolts. They don't have parts to drop like the Stage 8 locking header bolts. Just use a allen wrench and tighten it down. I believe they were only $79.95 for a set for our Buicks.

For the sure fire way I think, go to the Breslin

    Or the following:

    Stop Constantly Retightening Header Bolts.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constantly retightening your header bolts? Having to put new gaskets in all the time, because they blow out when the bolts loosen off? Here's a quick fix!

    Teflon Pipe Thread Tape...

You probably already have some in your toolbox. If not, go to the local hardware store and pick up a roll of teflon tape. Wrap some around the threads on the bolt when you're bolting on your next set of headers. You will still want to recheck them after a couple of heat cycles, as the gasket 'seats' itself. But, the nice thing is, you won't have to be constantly checking and retightening your headers. The teflon tape will put a stop to the bolts backing themselves off. And, always use a good quality gasket that matches your port shape and size.

Bizarre as it sounds, I have been using anti- seize (the silver stuff) on my header bolts and have not had any problems with them loosening. The reasoning originally was so I could get them off again without trouble. I also use the premium header gaskets. Maybe it's a coincidence, who knows! :Do No: Brian

Same here; same reason. Only had one blow-out in 8 years.
