Are these cars EVER done??? o No:  I'm going to the MCACN in Chicago 11/19 and I entered the car in a 1,000 point judging program (glutton for punishment). Anyway, I'm looking for the following: - Black floor mats. The ones I gave Nick S. to use are used and decent, but definitely show some signs of wear. NOS is probably like hens teeth, but I recall that one repro look correct but was made from the wrong material and the other was the correct material but looked incorrect. What's the latest on these and does anyone have a set or know if they can be had quickly?? Or a set of original in near minst shape? Short on time here... - Hood tach vent system. This would be a factory correct one. I bought a Tamraz set that is far from correct. There's a special elbow on the air box, firewall clips, a check valve, and hoses that I'm sure have some sort of particular markings. Anyone have a lead?? My car came with a tach, but no venting (just like it had no lower shift boot or ring which made for a warm ride). That's about it, I think.
Ken, Forget about the floor mats you don't want to put them in the car with that type of judging. They will want to see the carpet everywhere, and may deduct points if they are installed. I have seen this happen before. I will call you about the other stuff in a few days, but if you don't hear from me by this saturday then call to remind me. Duane
Duane- I like the answer that the best thing to do is simply pull the mats. I'll call you if I don't hear from you by week's end. Have a great week, my friend!
The CARS repo mats i just saw at the GS Nationals looked VERY nice and NOS:TU: Hope you do well Ken :beer Ajesh told me about the show so i may see you there. Peace WildBill
Dean, You should get a hold of Ken and let him know what parts you have. I know I don't have everything he is looking for. Duane
Ken , Im leaving my carpet savers and handy mats at home ... You know they check date codes and interior screws ? Crazy corvette people ... ou: DL
Ken- I still have that original, 40+ year old factory Buick tire air taken out of original unused spare tires. The NOS stuff as you know isnt correct. I have both 14" air and G60-15 air (very rare). I have all three years too- 70 thru 72. Let me know
I should be fine with date codes, screws I dunno. I do know my door sill plates don't have the rivets holding the Fisher tag on like the original- some else to worry about! Looking forward to seeing you there! :beers2:
I got the check valve and the plastic nipple for the air box- thanks Dean! I have pics of the firewall clips I took of Bob Christo's car and Duane may have those. What I don't have access to is the elusive clip for the vent line to the hood. Bob's car didn't have this, so no idea what it looks like. If someone has a picture (or better yet a clip), that would be most helpful! As I understand it, this is where the missing clip would go. Air box nipple Check valve and relative location Firewall clip (2 required) Believed to be original hose, with ribs. Doesn't seem like any other hose I've seen.
You're welcome! I "think" this is the clip your after. Unfortunately, this is the only pic I have. Also unfortunately, you can't tell much from the pic.
Don- That looks like the wiring harness clip, which I have. Looking at both pictures posted, it looks like there's two clips- one for the harness and one for the hose. o No: Thanks.
Ken, were you able to get it all the vent pieces together for the MCACN show? Can't tell from the shows pics I've seen.
I'm pretty sure Inline Tube repros the firewall hose lip clips. They were used on Olds 442 for the hood light wire......Frank
