    Hey folks!

I was watching one of those TV car shows some time ago, Two Guys Garage, and they installed a device that was some sort of electric pump that pre-primes the oil system before starting the engine.

My Buick sits outside during the winter, and is used regularly. I don't like the sounds that come from the engine on startup, and it's not exactly convienent to pull the Dizzy every morning to prime the system.

Considering the poor oiling systems, I would think this would be a worthwhile addition.

I can't for the life of me remember what it was called or who makes it. Hoping someone on the board can remember and point me in the right direction.

    Thanks!

You don't need that item unless you have a hi-po race car.
If the problem you have now was/is a concern, GM would have done
things differently. Oil gets through the system in 10 seconds or less and you won't have any damage in 10 seconds. Studies have been done were engines were run w/o any oil at all and they ran 10-15 minutes before overheating. Don't concern yourself over a trivial item for a street car.

Those studies were probably done with a slant six....

I run an oil accumulator with a solenoid wired to the ignition switch. When I turn on the ignition, accumulated oil under 50 or 60 lbs dumps directly into the engine. When I shut the ignition off, 2.5 quarts is locked into the accumulator until the next start.
