I'm currently in the market for a set of heads for my 455 build-up going into my 65 skylark. Looking for a price range of around $500-$700. The reason I'm putting this in here instead of parts wanted is because I would like some advice on what to look for! Do you think with the new Stage 1 alum. heads I can probably get a set of good iron heads for cheaper than this? Sorry,I'm still not Buick savvy but working on it!...o No:
You can find a good set of 455 iron heads and have them rebuilt for less than $700 to Stage1 specs. Go for that....hopefully someone has a set here on the board for reasonably cheap:TU:

I was reading thru this forum, and I happened to notice that you, like I, am in the process of rebuilding a 1965 Skylark hardtop, complete with 455 engine. I have a spare set of 1970 non-stage heads I would be willing to part with for $ 300 (plus ship+handle) These heads are bare, and a little rusty, but I've had them checked out by my local machine shop, and they are sound (no cracks, etc.) and would be an excellent candidate for a rebuild. I already have a set of good to go '68 430 heads that I'm planning to use on my '76 455 block, and I'd hate to see these gathering dust in a corner of my garage.
