In the fall of 1969 My brother ordered a Red GS 400, PS, PB, A/C, 4 speed, Posi traction, AM radio, No Vynl top, dog dish hubcaps, Black Interior BENCH SEAT. Less than a year later he died of a freak medical accident. His wife drove the car for a few years and sold it in or near Auburn, Alabama when she traded it in on a new car. I have lost touch with my sister inlaw, and I have lost my brother. I am at a point in my life that if the GS is still out there and has not been recycled into beer cans, I would like to find it and restore it. I know I have as much chance of finding this car as finding a specific needle in a haystack of needles, but I have to try. IF any of you out there in the Buick World have any ideas of how I can find this car or have knowledge of this car I would be in your debt. I am a car guy, currently I have a 69 Elky that is a real beauty. I know what it takes to rebuild a car like this. THANK YOU !!! for any thing you can do. Please email me at bdemarkey@earthlink.net put Bob's GS 400 in the subject.
If I were in your shoes, the first step I'd take is to get in touch with your sister-in-law and see if she has any of the old paperwork for the car such as title, registration, insurance card - anything with a VIN# on it ... if she is still using the same insurance company they may still have it on record as well o No: The fact that it is a factory 4 speed with AC and bench seat makes it a pretty rare build so its not like there were thousands out there like it I've contacted a board member here who may be able to shed some light on the exact number produced with your build Good luck with your search
