    Hi Mark,

You can get a set of Correct Reproduction Kelsey-Hayes 40 Spoke Wire Wheels from Wheel Vintiques. www.wheelvintiques.com 559-251-6957.There may be other vendors/Suppliers that have wire wheels available, but the original optional Buick Wire Wheels were 40 spoke Kelsey-Hayes. They also are available with stainless spokes.

    Tom,

I spoke with them friday, it will be next year before he will have a set available.

Hoping to find a set that was gently used and not cost me and arm and both legs. New they are starting to push $2000.

Oh... the thrill of the hunt!!!

    Thanks,
    Mark

    wire wheels

    Hi Mark

Did You try Stockton Wheel? 209-464-7771. or Capital Original Wheels www.capitalwheels.com 323-321-9192.Yes they are getting Expensive. Cars may have some, But I know they arent cheep either. The original 40 Spoke Kelsey-Hayes Wire Wheels bring a pretty good buck and may need some re-chromeing. I know that I myself will get a set, but that will be the finnishing touch on my 56.

    Wire Wheels

    Hi Mark;

Have You checked the Classifides on any of the Buick Sites? Cars. Inc do have some listed. Kanter has started to sell wire wheels. I guess it is going to be one of those a friend of a friend items. I hope you stumble accross a set.

    Doug,
The info I have found says they are a 5x5 lug pattern with 3 in setback, and I believe there is a guide pin hole.

They are repopping them ,and it is probably cheaper than having old ones rechromed. I have a set that need rechroming, and they are $300 plus shipping. I was going to sand blast them and paint them, but decided against that.

These more than likely are repops, I bought them on E-bay last night.

FYI Rallye America does have 3 sets of the original K-Hayes wheels that will be for sale in the next couple of weeks, restored and re-chromed.

As far as the cost of re-chroming, well, have you seen what the new aftermarket wheels price out at? It may be worth getting yours rechromed.

    Wire Wheels

    Hi Mark!

I did see a couple of sets on ebay. I'm Gladd that You were the winning bidder. I don't know what the cost of re-chroming them would be, but I'm sure its not cheep, especially if they have to be reworked a bit from curb rash or bent spokes. They sell the spinners seperatly an additional added cost. On quality I like about the new ones is that you can get them with stainless spokes, a lot easier to keep clean. Good Luck with Your Set. I bet You are anxious to put them on Your car. :TU: :beer :bglasses:

    Tom,
You are right, I am excited to have them put on the car. I have another set of wire wheels that I had on a Riviera, that I thought might work, but they didnt seat very well on the hub and I didnt want to take a chance.
Looks like I can sell them now, since I sold the Riv. Rather have someone use them instead of just sitting in a box.

When the new wheels go on I'll see if I cant post a picture.

    Mark
