Don't quote me, but I think 7-Litres came with wheelcovers. I guess you're gonna be satisfied with 16-second quarters? :Brow:
We should dip into the 15's. I'm not afraid to put some gear into a car to help it run. distributor will be curved and it'll have 2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust. should be o.k.. Besides, I just wouldn't feel right if i wasn't in the first row. Lol. Yes, they came with wheel covers which i do have. the wheels will be pulled, stripped and painted the correct black, wheels weren't body cover when they got full wheel covers. what'll be interesting is when it goes across the scales!
Looks like a solid car. Congrats I like the painted bodycolor wheels. Id leave it, Less weight anyways.
Thanks guys. Steve, thanks for the offer. What I'll probably end up doing, once we get closer to race time, is to sell the 28 spline 4.11 locker I have that I ran in the Torino. Then I'll purchase a 31 spline 4.11 locker set up for this car. Or if someone wants I'd swap. Hmmmmmm... this would help out that Merc, Timmy!
You might be able to use the 28 spline one you have and be just fine with factory tires .I wouldnt with real sticky tires though
This has been my ongoing project for the last two weeks. Restoring the wheelcovers. It took a little over an hour to tape each one off. The "center caps" unbolt which made life alot easier. Unbolt center cap, clean up with some turtlewax chrome polish. remove center medallion and replace with re-pop medallion. wipe down wheel cover with prep-all and proceed to tape. mainly used 1/8" and 1/4" fineline vinyl tape. paint. untape, bolt center cap on and done. next up is to pull the wheels so i can have the tires dismounted, wheels blasted, paint wheels black and then put it all back together.
Looking good. How soon till you go to the track for some test hits? I'm sure the weather will hinder that for a few more weeks.
Probably another month or so. i just found a "correct" carb for it and i have some other work to do on it.
Holy cow! Those caps are like the optional "Mag Style" wheel covers on my Dodge! The rim unbolts from the center, but instead of lugs that poke thru the cover like yours, mine have five little fake chrome lugs that bolt onto the back side of the cover! They weigh about 7-8 lbs each!! Too much un-sprung weight to spin around at the track. Plus if one of these come lose at the track I can see it flinging into the stands and injuring 42 spectators! LOL Are you going to run those at the track??/ Or switch to dog dishes or naked rims instead??
