I sold my 71 Cortez Gold GSX back in the 80's. I sure would like to find it and see if it could be bought.

It was a special order car. It was an AC car, delivered in California. Had cruise. Came as an 4speed car converted as an automatic with black interior. There are some small things that I did to the car that I could still tell if was my old car. It was sold from Texas and went to Arizona. That's the last known place it was at.

For anyone who might know anyone out here that has a 71 Cortez Gold GSX, would you please have them contact me. Hopefully someone has friends that knows about this car. I would appreciate it so much. And, if I'm able to purchase it, I would be glad to pay a finders fee of $500 as well.

    Thanks,

:TU: not sure if this was yours. This is the car that was for sale in TN the last year or so. If you kept any of your paper work from when you owned the car I can help you verify if this one was yours or not :Do No:

    My old 71 GSX

    Hi, I'm here!

Yes, I've been out of pocket for a few days.

Some things I can tell you about my old GSX is that I had (2) amps mounted in the trunk. That area just behind the rear seat. They were bolted down with 4 screws apiece (8) holes. There were two thrust hush decals on the inner trunk lid. The owner told me the car was an original 4 speed. But from inside, I never could tell that. I did have an eq mounted inside of the glove box up high. I'll look for the photo of the engine and see if there are any tell tale signs there.

Maybe some of you could look in your vehicles for signs of these items, or where they were repaired. Also, I'm sure that the gas tank isn't in there, but I had this windage tray built into it and two frame filters mounted there. (barely visable in the photo).

Please let me know.............thanks so much!! Bruce

Helllllooo Bruce, mine had a frame off concorse resoration by Mark Reeve's at Then and Now. There are no holes anywhere that aren't suppose to be there and no stickers as well....soooo..unless you have vin or body tag#'s from years ago you are SOL finding our if mine was yours. If you have been away from buicks for awhile you may be suprised :eek2: (not pleasantly) as to what it may cost you to get your gsx back or even if someone is willing to part with it? Good Luck Gord

    Scott,

This is John, How are you and the GSX doing?

I believe your car came from Vegas and before that it was in Arizona. I do not recall seeing any EQ or amp's at the time Chuck had the car. As for the 4 speed stuff, no idea we had the tranny in and out a few times and it looked stock.

Hope this help's good luck with your search.

    John

PS The Black car went 11.04, still trying for that 10 second run. Maybe next year.

    Thanks for the reply!

I really appreciate you looking in the trunk on that ledge behind the rear seat to see if there were any holes from mounting the amps.

Yes, some mornings I wished I had my old girlfriend back too! Then, when I fully come too, I realize what a mess it was having her around, he, he!!!!

I know, I've seen the prices of some if these cars. I have hotrods around here that I just look at now. Maybe they could be in a better home if I could find my old car. Besides, we can't take all this stuff with us. It's only here on loan.

But, I wouldn't mind buying a 70 GSX as well.

I always think about the brute power my car had. I just remember that only once I had to turn off my AC to beat this Mustang. That was one bad mother! I couldn't shake him. I would always see his front fender at my door, and never had anyone stood up to me that close. It was so funny, he tried everything in the book to get past me, but he couldn't!!! he he!! Me and my friend would just laugh and listen to him rev the !@#$%^ out of his car and to no avail!

Thank's for your help. Please pass this on and see if I can't locate it. I'll look for the photo's of the engine tonight.

    Thanks,
    Bruce!!!

    Vin number

Oh yes, and for the vin. I have no paperwork on it. I've looked everwhere. I did find a Texas Dps officer and had him look through old license plate data, but it was too old to find. I do remember that I bought it from Larry Wilkerson.(third owner)

The original owner was from California and I talked to him here in Texas. He said his wife had a lady friend in need of a car, and it was just sitting and he sold it to her for $1000. Then, she sold it to this guy Larry Wilkerson.

One day at lunch at school my friend Drew Pearson said "hey, I know where this Pontiac GTX is" I didn't think anything about it. Then, I said Pontiac? He said yes. Then I thought, wait a minute. There's no way it could be a GSX because I had only seen them in a magizine. Anyway, we scoured the streets in Benbrook Texas for about 30 minutes. There in a field I saw the spoiler!!! I said it's mine! No matter what it cost! Anyway, the car had a broken vacuum pod on top of the intake that was it! It was mint too! The guy I bet didn't know how to add oil. Anyway, I bought it for $1500.00

And, boo-hoo as the story goes!
