hi everyone. I'm real new! I have a very real passion for 65 Wildcats and if the situation presents itself, especially in Canada, but,..really,.. anywhere, I want to see myself behind the wheel of a restored 65 Buick wildcat that I could legally call my own!! The timing for such a venture is close, but not quite there yet. Does any one in Buick world know how to help me? I can practically chat forever about these beauties, so if you'd like to , I'm all ears. Manfred:beer
Those are not "ordinary" Wildcats! Ted, please give us the specs on the red, green and Black cat. :Brow: I'm not sure I know all the details on all your cats.....I do know the green one even has power locks.....among other very nice options. Rick
DAMN TED how many baddassz buicks do you wanna own save a few for us, lowlives. that black cat is gorgeous. id like to see that when its done.
Word on the street is that black 65 one has a hot 225" slant six in it with a Powerglide. Gonna be a screamer! Modelfritz, a 65 Wildcat shouldn't be that hard to come across, just give some general parameters such as condition and price range, one will turn up. Heck, a member of another discussion fourm has three for sale if he has not sold them yet, two coupes and a 4 door if I remember correctly. He is in California. Matt
Supersecret details of the Wildcats... Red one nicknamed "The Princess" for the fact that she is always well groomed and stays in the "Taj-Ma-Garage". She is sporting a standard 401 Wildcat 445 mated to a Warner T-10 4-speed gearbox. Rear axle ratio is the 3.42:1 posi. She is the Deluxe Bucket seat model, one of 17 with the 401 and 4-speed  . The engine was rebuilt with Carmen Faso heads, Distributor and rebuilt original Carter AFB (4-speed spec). Original window sticker indicates full wheel covers, now obviously upgraded to the Formula 5's. Some other minor upgrades are the power trunk release and rear power antenna. Green one is nicknamed "The Pea", Seafoam green companion to the princess but regal in her own right. She is outfitted with the Super Wildcat 425 cid dual quad engine mated to a Super Turbine 400 code BS transmission from a Riviera GS and a 3.42 rear axle. The Pea is a Wildcat Custom Bench seat model, with power bench seat, power antenna, power trunk release, vacuum door locks, power windows and top, cruise control, a/c, Guidematic headlight dimmer and wonderbar AM radio. It had the turning lights but they were bolloxed getting them rechromed and the new fenders did not have those holes. Dual 2.5 exhaust...LOUD Magnaflow ultras (not recommended!) Blackie was a red car with black custom bucket interior...now Regal Black and soon to be red custom interior...Super WIldcat 425 dual quad engine, mated to a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed overdrive, 3.42:1 rear axle ratio. Engine has the Carmen big valve heads and rebuilt Carter AFB's (correct for an automatic), TA ceramic coated shortie headers and (du du du da!) the Buick eXperimental aluminum dual quad intake manifold. Burgundy car is an original 4-speed Wildcat 465 car with a/c (one of 11 custom coupes with 4-speed and a/c)(geek) I'm building a LX dual quad engine for it, mating to the original Warner T-10 rebuilt with a 2.54:1 first gear(nos high nickel content gearset) It has the black custom bucket seat interior, am/fm, rear speaker, power rear antenna, not too many other options...its off to a restoration shop for the frame off treatment. I just figure there are zero 4-speed coupes in show condition, and that has been my goal for the last 14 years! Thanks, Ted:beer
While the other cars are WAY FINE, this is the monster I want to see the birth of. I noticed there is no nickname. Somehow, I think Darth Vader would be appropriate........You know with all the trademark sayings. The Force be with you, The Dark Side, the haunting heavy breathing..........I AM YOUR FATHER (translation-Who's yo Daddy!) Rick
DAM... I can't take it anymore...once I'm done with the '63...it's gotta be a 65 Cat...(so much for the Electra and LeSabre '63 4 Dr....) My wife's gonna kill me if I do find one..cause she'll want it as well...AAAAAaaaaaaarrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Ted they're beautiful!!!
Hi Ted! you seem to be the 65 wildcat guru of gurus!! No patronising intended. I have been so in love with them ever since 1972, when I bought my white four-door with the red bench/armrest/elec.seat . It was a gem, albeit, very old and seriously worn mechanically. I sold it for a stereo. Yeah, groaner! I am vowed to myself to get another one when the money falls inplace. A nice clean perfect shape driver, between 11 and $13,000 or,... Something to wax, Love, drive, and appreciate in value, as the years go by. I know every part of them, and have had engines apart, trannys out and don't regret any of the experience. Gota love 'em. Manfred Range a.k.a. Modelfritz
Hi Rick, what are some of the details re: your beauty? Did you do all the work on it? Where did you find it, and what all did you have to do on it? I love pictures, as it is my only way to drool these cars till I own one again. The money needs to fall in place first. I'm looking for a 2-dr coupe with or without buckets, but most of the bells and whistles. A driver on sunny cruises with my collector friends. I don't restore, so I'll have to PAY! Manfred Range aka Modelfritz
I am almost positive Matt, that guy is still a member of this group too. :TU: When your money finally all falls into place, Manfred, just pick every bit of it up and bring it all to me. I'm only about 1300 miles due south. Get to the town that shares the same name as the county that it resides in and contact me when you get there. Only then shall I lead you directly to quite possibly the biggest & best mound of buried Buick treasures in soCal. :bglasses: :idea2: You should probably bring your own mop to clean the drool once you have stopped salivating long enough. There's even a place 2 blocks away where you can rent the truck & trailer to haul it ALL home with if enough money falls into this place in it's place. :Brow:
Robert, you are killing me! Just this Wednesday I picked up another stick 65 Wildcat, and after seeing those pictures, I would LOVE to head to SoCal. I just need to find that elusive money tree. If you know its whereabouts, please let me know! Man oh man... Matt
