Welp, I decided to roll it on out today. had to jack up the body some more, oh so carefully. I had thoughts like if it shifted I'd throw myself in front of it to prevent damage. My survivors could complete the resto! It was very easy, actually. Now I'll strip down the frame and get it off to the blasters. Many thanks to this site and its contributors for giving me the courage. :TU: Where is the VIN stamped on the frame? I looked quick but didn't see it.
The frame-less body. I have a rotisserie I'll be sticking it on. Some of the pieces from it can be seen in the above picture. I'm having new arms made for the ends to fit the Buick and get the center of gravity right. I hope to have those this week sometime.
Looks good Ken! The Vin is on top of the frame- flat area near where the driver's door would be. Regards, Eric
You are a "BRAVE MAN" Mr.Lisk....... all that to look for the SOCKET you lost......JEEEEEEEZZZ !!!! ou: ou: ou:
Hey I love to see pics of another man tearing into an X car. You got it going now. What is that stuff all over your driveway? The Skeeters have to take some sking lessons before they migrate up there.
Dude, you're freakin' nuts. Now, what are the plans for the body? I'm assuming a stripping of the underside? Well, once you get it down to bare metal what will you do? You planning on squirting epoxy paint on it? That's the stuff a warm 3 day weekend is made for. Good luck. Call me if you need me.
Jim- You continue to inspire me with the progress you're making on your car, my friend. Yards- You seriously want to ask what my plans are? You know I started this whole thing just looking to fix a burnt exhaust valve! LOL, I just keep getting deeper and deeper. I do plan to strip the underside and shoot it with the Viking epoxy paint that Jim W uses at Trishield. Same goes for the frame and suspension components in the correct sheens. Thanks for your offer of help, Bud! I appreciate it! Now shouldn't you be out putting your interior back in??? Now where's that socket I lost......
Those are long case Walker Dynomax mufflers. Going from memory, the PN is 17749 or something similiar. Jegs or Sumitt would have them.
Good luck finding those vin.# on the frame.I did my 455 car and am doing my Stage1 right now and havent found #s on either.
Frame vin location Here are the frame vin locations Always stamped behind the number 3 body mount (middle of the car under the door, driver side)
And then, on most, but not all frames, I have also found the vin between the number 6 and 7 mounts (the two in the trunk) on the driver side. The part numbers and two letter code are on the vertical part of the frame, near this vin stamping.. the vin is stamped in the top, similar to the #3 location.
Jim, I recall a stamping on my 72 W-30 that was on the drivers side right rear corner (where the bumper bracket bolted up to) that said "Parrish Pressed Steel Corp." Have you found anything like that on a Buick frame? Jason
I found my vin the same as JW said at the rear section of the frame on the top. After blasting it was there, but you really had to look for it
